1967 American League Pennant Race
The Chicago White Sox hosted the Detroit Tigers for a Sunday doubleheader on September 10, 1967. Both teams were involved in a wild, four-team chase for the A. L. pennant.
The first game, Tiger manager Mayo Smith penciled in a formidable lineup including future HOFers Al Kaline and Eddie Mathews as well as Norm Cash, Jim Northrup, Willie Horton, Dick McAuliffe and Bill Freehan to face Chisox pitcher Joel Horlen. Chicago's pennant hopes had been greatly diminished the day before during the TV Game of the Week, with Detroit overcoming a 3-0 deficit, scoring seven times in the ninth inning deflating the Sox 7-3. Chicago came back from the dead the next day, shutting out the Tigers in both games of the twin bill. Joel Horlen tossed a no-hitter in the first game.

I was able to purchase a small collection (6 pieces) of 1960's Yankees lineup cards from the son of a former boxer who also did some security gigs. He sent me a picture of him and his Dad with Roger Maris.
The collection included these 3:

On May 31, 1938 the Yankees played the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. The day after 81,000 showed up for a Yankees/Red Sox doubleheader, there were just 6,917 in attendance to see the Yankees beat the Red Sox 12-5. Tommy Henrich, Bill Dickey and Red Rolfe hit home runs for the Yankees. Jimmie Foxx hit a grandslam for the Red Sox. Joe DiMaggio had a 2B and 2 walks, and Lou Gehrig had one hit.
A small ceremony was held to celebrate Lou Gehrig's 2000th consecutive career game. Unlike by Ripken, where there was a number (Gehrig's 2130) to target, Gehrig had already blown past everyone by a long shot, and so 2000 was the major moment. (The person I purchased this from chose to get the lineup card signature authenticated, though I'll likely crack it out when I have a moment.) Thanks! I've been lucky to be able to acquire some really cool ones (and to collect a niche that most others ignore but I'm a little in shock to have this pair to be honest.
