Unfortunately I missed the boat on this one but a very good friend of mine scored 17 M131 Baltimore Newsboy E94 like cards. I believe there is a Cobb included. He shipped them all off to PSA ugh! not SGC against my better judgement. They should be hitting ebay within the next 8 weeks or so. It should cause a feeding frenzy! Good luck to investors and collectors alike.

Edited to try to be a little nicer this year! Forgive me and a very happy New Year to all! I can say that since it is still January I guess, not too late for Happy New Year wishes.

Dan- great find, but don't leave us.

Hey, I took a little heat on the REA thread but I'm back in the kitchen.

I don't mind heat Barry, I got buried on the thread with the cataloging of uncataloged cards. It is the grading that makes me sick to my stomach and the morons that pay for the slab numbers! I should be happy as these rich folk made my collection worth 3 times what it is but my collecting enthusiasm is dead. Dan.

Amen, Dan.

And I hope you'll still be around a bit. One of your posts is worth a dozen threadfuls about slabs, registries, and the like.

Dan, I really hope you stick around, you have far more supporters than you might think. Even those of us that choose to slab some items support you and your views.

Also, thanks for sharing the M131 news.

Best Regards,
Joe Gonsowski

Dan- Take a little time off but come back. It worked for me a few years ago when I was fed up here and hopefully it'll work for you too. You're one of the good guys Dan.

Dan,

You left out one of the most important pieces of info; HOW were they FOUND?? Grand Pa's attic?? Falling out of a ceiling?? In a tin can, buried under some old tires in the back yard?? Inquiring minds want to know....

David

Yes, I would like to know too. I assume they were found in the Baltimore area...and you say there is a Cobb?

I can tell you that--for the most part--I've stopped posting here AND IT FEELS GREAT! I will slip and post only if I have something very significant to offer, otherwise the agita just ain't worth it. Feel free to use us as a sponsor if you find yourself tempted.

Dan,

I was getting really bummed out reading so much stuff about grading and graded cards, so on a whim I busted a few slabs open last week (I don't have very many and there all in fairly low grades) and it felt really great! I'd recommend it to anybody who's feeling slab-challenged. The PSAs and the SGCs open up easy like cans of tuna. The GAIs are a little tougher, but I developed a technique with a pair of plyers and a large, flat kitchen knife ...

Just saw scans of the cards, 3 Lajoie's a Cobb, a Cicotte and a WAGNER! huge coinage here and should be fun. Good Luck to all! I am guessing a few may come back VG/EX but nothing higher. Dan.

Edited to correct VG/EX from VG/ES

Dan,

Any chance you can talk to the seller about posting some "teaser" scans for us?

Thanks, Alan! I could have lived the rest of my life without that YouTube clip quite happily. David Soul's real name was David Solberg - Norwegian, I think.

Here's hoping you stick around, Dan.
