Default T229 Kopec FRANK GOTCH SGC 3 (VG) Wrestling Holy Grail Card

1910 Kopec Cigarettes T229 FRANK GOTCH

SGC 3 (VG)

Ok fella's. Thought I would put this one up. Get ready for the hyperbole.

I believe this card is on most Wrestling Card collectors want list. One of the "Holy Grails" (shudder )...of the hobby. Similar to the T224 Pet Cigarettes Gotch...and just as scarce.

Perhaps the finest graded example of this card (Kopec or Pet). There is a PSA 3 T224 Pet out there, but honestly, this SGC Kopec seems much nicer.

Sorry, no longer the nicest. There is now an SGC 5 lurking out there.

Great colors, clean back. Corner wear as shown. Bottom left corner has very slight bend which is nearly imperceptible on the front, and shows as a very light wrinkle on the back. Nearly invisible with the naked eye, but you can see it with a magnifying glass on it.

SOLD

Pay almost any way you like.

PM to reserve or e-mail me at David at Boxingtreasures dot com

Thanks.

Willing to hear offers on this card. Know I probably started it high.

FYI,

Somebody on Ebay lifted my photos and appears to be soliciting this card there. They don't have it. I have the card right in front of me. All their other stuff is nudie photos.

Please report the listing if you see it, even though the Ebay report process doesn't even let you explain exactly what is wrong with the listing with their dropdown box procedures.

Reported. Presumably the account has been hacked as this seller has over 5,000 feedback. Rather unusual niche item for a scammer to do this for amidst their porn listings….

Yeah, by the wording it looks like they are soliciting to sell the card off ebay, but they have it listed as an auction. Fishy all around, and generally annoying.

Also, all the nudie pics are not listed in the adult section. They are listed in the "Collectible Pin-up" section.

Being they are relatively tame Playboy shots, I wonder it there is a distinction.

I'm not even sure it's a hacked account. Lots of recent feedback for the cheesecake shots from buyers.

I like how they cropped out the slab.

Upon a close inspection of these collectible pin ups of topless women and comparing them to my collectible boxing cards of topless men, I must wonder if perhaps we have chosen the wrong collectible.

Looks like he ended the listing. Thanks to anybody who reported it. Got word from somebody else who asked him a question on Ebay, that he's not selling it on Ebay. He was trying to sell it off site, or in a future auction with Heritage, and claimed to have an SGC 5. Why he was using my picture I'll never know.

Complicating things, is SGC's population report search engine is crap, and I can't corroborate if a (5) even exists for that card.

Wonder if anybody else has better luck with their pop report on this card.

The more I think of it, the more I think it was inspired by the movie "Sleepless In Seattle". LOL!

This is the wording of the description:

Quote:
"If you are the person who was interested in my Frank Gotch 1910 Kopek Cigarettes Card, please contact me !!!!"
only thing they forgot to add was:

Quote:
"If so, please meet me on the top deck of The Space Needle at Midnight of the Anniversary of the Frank Gotch vs. George Hackenshmidt match so we can exchange our contact information."

Heritage has it listed, but no image yet.

My guess is that the seller needed an image to promote the card (on a closed ebay listing) for those whi might be interested in the Heritage auction, but didn't have a scan of his own to use.

Ok,

Big price drop in acknowledgement of the strangely marketed and somewhat better example that went off on Heritage recently, after taking a detour on Ebay using an image of this very card in this listing.

Now Price drop as listed above (in the U.S.)

Thanks.
