Default Clear your walls, the T206 Backs Framed Display Pieces are Here!

Posted By: Trae R.

EDITED TO ADD PURCHASE INSTRUCTIONS:
---------------------------------------
Cost: $200 shipped via USPS Priority Mail

To order send an email to trae@mlbvintage.com
that includes the following:
- Frame color (cherry or black)
- Matte color (tan or harbor gray / other options available, please ask)
- Dimensions you want (8x2 or 16x1)
- PayPal email address
- The order of the backs
(Scarcity, Alphabetical, Custom, etc.)

I will reply with an invoice for the
payment via PayPal, once you pay I will
submit the order and you will have your
product in about 10 business days.

I am also going to throw in a loose set
of reprint backs with every order for you
to do as you wish.
---------------------------------------
Payment by check or money order can
be arranged. I will submit the order to
framer once your check or money order
clears. Please email me for my address.

---------------------------------------
Thank you for the orders that have already been placed!

These came out better than I thought to be honest. They really are a top-notch quality (very sturdy!) product. They're made to order only. I setup mine in the photos below alphabetically for both displays, which ended up dispersing the different colored backs pretty well.

(That's my reflection at the bottom of the 8x2... oops!)

Regretfully they're going to be $200 each (8x2 or 16x1) - that's the final price though, assembled - packed (with care) & shipped to your doorstep via USPS Priority Mail. I've finally figured out all of the overhead and between the shipping supplies, framing supplies, printing costs and assembly time I can't afford to sell them for less because I can't afford to mass produce them - so they have to be done on a per order basis. The turnaround time will be approximately 10 business days from the day of your order.

To look on the bright side though, someone emailed me and said they submitted my diagrams to their framer and the framer wanted $250 just to frame the backs, which would have to also be purchased separately. So I have apparently chosen the right (affordable) company to handle the framing needs of the product.

Wahoo - thanks!

Trae,

Just curious, can you do the 8x2 version in the black frame as well?

Josh, yes. Either frame and matte are interchangeable. If you really aren't settled on either of the options I've offered color wise for the matte or frame, I would be happy to offer you a few more options based on the selection of my framer. That shouldn't be too tough if you're interested in doing that.

Jim, I appreciate the kind words. You're very welcome.

Mike, definitely. That one is $1,000 if you want it in your frame.

Dylan, I agree... but it wouldn't be the same without it.

I have a question for the board - do you all think I should create a print run of the additional series backs and then you can choose what backs (brand/series specific) that you want or does this suffice? I am happy with it this way but wouldn't have any problem offering additional series, like Broad Leaf 460 for instance, or AB No frame, Hindu Brown, etc. It would take a few weeks to get them ready but time's not a problem.

This may be a very dumb question so please forgive me. I am looking to display slabbbed fronts of T206's. Does yours work for the fronts and, if not, any ideas on a good way to display them? Thanks, Powell

Hi Powell, I think this thread will help you with some ideas:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/153652/thread/1165428883

My project is not intended for slabbed fronts. Although a fronts/backs combination (reprints) display piece is being thought over right now with a fellow board member.

Thanks

Scott, let's just say it's more for hobby fun than profit. I'm not making very much. I make more at my day job in comparison to the time spent to income ratio. I've only made back about 1/4th of the time and money put into it if you count the time as dollars at my hourly rate. So, as I stated above, do it first for enjoyment. It's obvious you like collecting baseball cards if you're on this board, so if you decide to do it, it will be a fun project regardless of the money involved.

Scott, speaking of which, how many backs are there in the T205 set? I am not familiar with it. The dimensions for the framing should be identical, you would just have to create print quality backs in the graphics program of your choice and have them printed.

Actually, that frame would be nice for my raw T206 Cardinals team set.
When a card is matted, does that mean they use glue on the back of the card?

They are glued, yes. You could probably glue over top of them or take them off without too much damage to the matte but I wouldn't recommend the latter.

Or, you can purchase one minus the reprinted T206 backs and do with the framing kit as you wish.

What about the substance they use to stick credit cards onto the paper letters when they send then through the mail. Dry glue?

I know what you're referring to, Rob. It's gummy and not permanent. I don't know what it's called though. I am currently using a permanent, non-acidic, archival quality scrap booking glue to adhere the cards to the rag matte.
