Default I bought my dream card

I've been lurking here for a while, but never been an active poster on the forum. I think I finally found a worthwhile reason to join in, as I've finally bought a card I've been wanting for 10+ years. I'm still pinching myself that I own one, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Nice card. Congratulations on picking up your dream card. Although I’m not a t206 guy, the green Cobb has always been one of my favorite cards.

Enjoy it in good health.

Thanks for the warm welcome. If I had the means 10 years ago, I would have bought it, but as many of you know, school, marriage, kids, and life in general can put those plans on the back-burner. It's not the $5k PSA 5 I could have had 10 years ago, but it's plenty good enough for me.

I've noticed a few of you have referenced wide borders. What's the significance of that? Does it relate to trimmed sides (or, more specifically, lack thereof)?

If (or more likely, when) I buy more t206, I'll be sure to share them here.

Exactly - borders like on this card are a nice sign that the card hasn't been on the receiving end of a haircut. Too often you see a numerically graded T206 that you'd expect to have an American Beauty back (which are narrower) but it's not. This card looks great!

You’re my kind of collector....save up money over a period of time, look forward to making a big purchase, and then celebrate when you pull the trigger!

Great card!

So what’s next? Add some more T206 cards, or go after something different?

That is a great looking example with nice colors, big borders and rounded corners. The rounded corners not only typically helps getting a card at a better price, but also makes a fresh one like this look appropriately old.

Congrats on waiting/finding one you can really appreciate.

Here is what your Green Cobb could have looked like if you had been impatient.

Brian (patiently impatient and a cheapskate, but still glad to have it)

I'm not sure yet. I'm weighing between jumping into the t206 set as a whole, or buying other heavy hitters from other sets (I've been eyeing a nice t206 Johnson, but there may be a 1933 Goudey Ruth in my future). Either way I'll be sure to share.
