Sure I played, did you think I was born age 70 sitting in a dugout trying to manage guys like you? — Casey Stengel to Mickey Mantle. Went to plenty of Yankee games back in the 'fifties. Casey could have been talking to me. Never pictured him as a young guy. This T210-6 elicits the best memories.

Red Horner, Reg Hamilton and Bucko McDonald celebrating their semifinal victory in 1939 over the Red Wings. They look like they just stormed Vimy Ridge. Their happiness is infectious. Alas I'm still waiting for the Leafs to win the Cup.

Who wouldn't want to be this guy?

'72 Topps Kaline, serial numbered in his own hand.

What makes me Happy?
My youngest boy, while opening packs of 2002 Topps Wax Box; I bought for him to hunt for Mauer's Rookie (just the base card folks; bringing back the fun of my childhood); pulls this and says, "Hey Dad, what's this?". My mouth drops open, grab my '72 Topps (that I opened from packs when I was a kid); show him my card of Kaline. I say, "This".
I still smile every time I look at it.

We went together to the Rosemont Show to get it slabbed.

Jimmy Wang Yu, in a 1960s card from Hong Kong:

Honus Wagner 1909-13 M101-2 Sporting News Supplements. Mesmerizing card and PSA POP of only 5.

Significantly more rare than Wagner's T206 portrait card, this 8x10 paper supplement is a playing days card and early appearance by an immensely popular player, whom was among the 1st MLB HOF Inductee class from 1936, along with Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, and Christy Mathewson.

Love this image also, and Paul is absolutely right, the PSA pop reports for graded M101-2s is absolutely not representative of what is out there. Most all M101-2 supplement images are fantastic and somewhat unique. PSA only starting grading these in the last couple of years apparently. And because of the size/fragility, and lack of interest by TPGs grading them previously, most serious M101-2 Sporting New Supplement collectors I've met go for these in raw shape/form.

Beckett used to be the only major TPG I am aware of that would grade these over the years. However, their graded holders for these are huge and hard to store/handle, and don't make the Supplements look that great. And to my knowledge, SGC still doesn't grade them.

These Lajoie game cards (and some more of his red friends) make me smile because they were rescued from a dumpster by the seller I purchased them from.

This cabinet from 1910 shows my grandfather in the garden at the public school he attended on the Lower East Side in NYC.

Quentin Tarantino lists MotFG as one of his favorite movies. I chased that card and that publicity photo for a long time.

On a related note, 1974 Yamakatsu

And this:

I am not a fan of relic cards but I know I will never own a bona fide Lee autograph, so this is as close as I will come to something Lee actually handled.

This Matty was part of a group of five 1910 era cards that were my first vintage card purchase. This particular card is the one that caught my eye and fancy, and helped propel my vintage collecting. As a result, it has produced many smiles...both by itself as a reminder how I felt just being able to own it, to the countless additional smiles it engendered as my collection grew from its awesome original core.

It is all about the back when it comes to this Zeenut (I do not have a scan of the front, and neither know offhand the player, nor what 1930's Zeenut issue this card is from). However, with the info written on the card, I was able to determine the card to be of pitcher Hank McDonald of the Portland Beavers, and thus it is either from the 1931 or 1933 sepia set.

It makes me smile that Buck Barker snaked all his info about this player around the James Cagney caricature transfer. He definitely worked with what was given to him.

I have plenty of cards that make me smile, but this is not one of them. It makes me smile, but I only possess a scan.

Wanted this forever. Just got it. Half the card is gone, but don’t care.

Adam

Connors makes me happy, too.

I met him back in the 1990's, got his autograph, and we had a great conversation for about 30 mins. talking mostly about his Movies.
A very friendly guy.

Nice E98 Old Put. Of course I like it even more because it has been laminated for future generations to, guilt-free, spill liquids upon it.

Default Drink the Kool-Aid

Thanks Brian..... I don't know if could spill Kool-Aid on it, but it definitely was sealed off at one time by somebody..... I'm 99% sure it's an authentic Old Put based on comparisons with the many OPs that I have once owned or still own, but I would love to have it authenticated by SGC if they even grade laminated cards???
Happy Collecting!

This was THE sports moment for me as a kid. I was a rabid Yankees fan and stayed up late watching this game. When Chambliss hit it, I opened the window in the apartment and listened to the city cheering. I even got to go to a game of the Series...which did not go as well. No happy cards of the Big Red Machine crushing the Bombers in four straight.

This is a little different from the rest of the posts which had some very impressive items. This card is of my Granddaughter when she was 4 years old

This E220 card of Groh has always made me smile (because of it depicting Heinie's unique bottle bat, and the fact that parts of three cards can be seen), but just today while posting I was able to figure out that the card just visible on its right side is that of Roger Peckinpaugh). That made me smile some more.
