Howdy! I have recently gotten back into the hobby after losing my collection during Katrina. (ugh, you don't wanna know) Before I was mostly a set collector but am now planning on focusing on Braves stuff and vintage HOF'er cards. This place seemed to be the best vintage card spot on the net and I hope to learn a lot here!

thanx for letting me join!

Welcome! Great forum, I am sure you will enjoy.
I wonder how many vintage cards were lost to Katrina, never thought about it.

I can imagine thousands upon thousands of old cards were lost..... I probably lost, at the time when the market was pretty high, $10,000 worth of stuff??? maybe? tons of old Braves, a complete, mint quality 1983 Topps football set I hand collected. probably 10 Griffey Jr Upper Deck rookie cards that were going to be sent out for grading in a few weeks before the storm. a handful of T-206 cards (all "commons") and probably between 100-200 various late 50's and early 60's cards from Eddie Matthews and Aaron to some minor stars and rookies. (not to mention all my 80's 90's and 2000's stuff)

oh well, now I know, when my collection reaches a certain value i need to get it insured.

Welcome Nick ! Good to have another Brave collector aboard.

Do you collect Boston, Milwaukee or Atlanta...or a combination?

-Raymond

right now I am just trying to replace all the Braves rookies from the 90's heyday era as well as M braves stars (the usual Aaron, Spahn, Matthews) , BUT, since I have made a decision to forego chasing modern card sets and inserts for the most part i am interested in getting into the old tobacco era Boston stuff. Not concerned about investment quality condition or any of that stuff. Just would like to have as many original Braves cards as I can find from inception to the early 2000's.

Only new cards i figure to buy are individual rookies of up and coming Braves and the odd Kris Bryant type of guy.

EDIT: picked up a great condition Neikro rookie the other day for only $15, a real bargain. If pressed to guess, i bet it's a PSA 7-8 (which probably means 6-7, lol)

Welcome! I bet it would be fun to collect a Braves all-time team. They have had so many great players.
