Default I don't dare put this on the card "side"!

Personally, I think TPG is the biggest scam to come down the pike in a long time. I also can't fathom spending hundreds of thousands (millions?) on a piece of cardboard. Two guys in this article say they fully expect a PSA 10 1952 Mantle card to bring $50, maybe even $100, million

https://www.si.com/mlb/2021/07/06/to...ow-daily-cover

I especially liked what Keith Olbermann had to say:

Graders, says Olbermann, “destroyed the hobby, generally don’t know what the f--- they’re doing and aren’t uniformly honest.”

Mr Olbermann isn't wrong.

No one is going to pay 50 or 100 million for that Mantle. I would be surprised if it broke double digits at all.

I think a 10 would hit at least 10 million with the way the other things have gone. Just a wild guess obviously.

I think it probably will break $10,000,000, but I'll be absolutely astonished if it hits $50,000,000. That's not a baseball card price; that's a Van Gogh price.

I'd be surprised if it hit 10 mil. It just doesn't make sense for a baseball card to be that valuable and where exactly do you go from there later?

My prediction: 7.75 before juice.

Yeah, but I think the article said someone had already turned down $20M.

At any rate, this is Jeff Bezos aka ”more money than I know what to do with” territory.

As long as there are whales who want the highest rated registry set or PSA 10 1986-87 Fleer Jordan’s there are going to be card doctors with inside help at the TPG’s to enable them with an altered supply.

That's just marketing. How many times have you made an offer to a seller who says something like "I've already turned down offers for X".

Agreed Just marketing. Cannot picture anyone paying any where near that and they are just trying to create a hype and increase its value even if it is not to their price points

Unfortunately, the pandemic has created the perfect storm of people with money to burn and time on their hands. This means there are truckloads of people who never collected before and have no idea of the usual parameters of desirablility that most seasoned collectors use outside of comps and pop reports. All of a sudden a 1 of 1 has crazy value for no other reason than "Hey look at me. I have a card that no one else has!"
So would it really be a surprise that a 52 Mantle psa would reach 10 or even 100 million? Maybe a little, but no really. There has been an influx of what i call "Stupid Money," so who knows what could happen.
By stupid, i don't ness mean the people are stupid, but the amounts being spent and what they are being spent on makes no logical sense.

Didn't collectable app offer Fogel 20 Million for his Mantle 10 and he turned it down?

Bad decision. It's most likely trimmed or altered in some way. I would not trust any card of that vintage in a PSA 10 Slab.

Why sell if you don't need the money?
