Default Have You Ever Had A Card Grade Higher After Resubmission?

I'm considering getting a few PSA cards put into SGC holders this coming weekend and was wondering if there's a chance any of them could receive higher grades.

Why not resubmit to PSA? Apparently, it's a no-lose situation.

I've had a handful of Psa cards get a bump in grade from Sgc when I've sent them in for crossover.
Even left them in their Psa holder without cracking them out.
If they feel a card should be bumped, it will be.

When you resubmit either to PSA or SGC do you crack the case and send in the raw card, or send it in with it's current slab in tact?

usually people crack them out....

I once bought a 62 Mars Attacks SGC EX/MNT that I cracked and crossed to PSA and it got an 8.

It was a true old school ex/mnt card.

Usually I just keep the card in whatever holder I get it in, I only crossed that one because

I was building the set in PSA 6 and up.

I should crack them out of the PSA holder? The reason I'm crossing over is because they have stupid OC qualifiers.

Addie, I would just send the cards in their PSA holders. SGC will grade it the same either way and you do not want the downside of the card coming back altered.

I just had a few bumps on crossover to SGC a couple of weeks ago. I also had a few downgrades. In the end, it came out about even.

Leave them in their Psa holders. Sgc will treat you fairly.

So far I'm 3/20 on resubmits for PSA. Each of the 3 were bumped half a grade. Edited to say.....those stats are on resubs to PSA not on crossovers.

Regards,
Scott

Leave them in their PSA slabs with a minimum grade requirement. They will grade the card fairly, but keep in mind, if you don't put a grade requirement on the submission form, SGC may grade the card lower than what you expected. Generally, they will put the PSA slab in a plastic graded card sleeve and circle the area on the sleeve where the grade doesn't meet the requirements. I really appreciate this feature with SGC. As most have said above, SGC will grade it fairly.

...was once in a PSA 4 holder. I send it to SGC for cross -- kept it in its slab -- and it came back an SGC 60. I was not expecting it, but was obviously thrilled when it happened. I had always felt that my PSA 4 was too harshly graded and SGC vindicated me on that one.

I just got back a 20 card crossover from SGC. I sent in 20 PSA graded cards in slabs, the results- 10 crossed with the same grade, 3 got lower grades and 7 got higher grades.

While I always crack cards out to send to PSA, I would not do that for cards to SGC.

I've crossed several SGC cards to PSA and I'd say around 2/3 of them came back with higher grades.

Sounds like I should just leave them in the PSA holders then. I just want to rid myself of the infuriating OC qualifiers. I really PSA would do away with the whole qualifier system. Its stupid and pointless, just give the card the grade it should get.

The card in question is graded a PSA 8 with an OC qualifier, do you guys think I should put the minimum grade from SGC at 7? What's that, an 88? I assume I might be hit with a slight downgrade if the card is slightly of center.

PSA 8 with OC might come back as a 80 (6) or 84 (7) from SGC. Seeing scans would help. Some PSA 8 OCs aren't all that OC. It really depends on the issue.

You can request no qualifiers with a PSA submission and they will give it the highest grade for which it qualifies (i.e. if the centering is only worthy of a 6, then you'd get a 6 instead of a 7 OC).

at SGC a 7 is an 84.

Here is a scan of the card, I've posted it before:

Card is absolutely gorgeous and I really don't see how it could grade at less than a 7. Its not even that off center, especially for a Diamond Star which all seem to be slightly off center. I don't know why PSA chose to give this card the OC when I have seen literally thousands of Diamond Stars centered similarly that weren't given qualifiers.

Addie, that is a very nice looking card, but it is definitely OC. It looks approximately 80/20 left to right at the bottom to me.

It OC, no doubt, but it is a common print for the issue. Regardless, do you think the card would get bumped way down to a 6 or is there every possibility it could receive a 7? If you guys think there's no chance at a 7 I am hesitant to crossover.
