Default Any ideas?

I picked this one up on eBay. I recognized the photo immediately; its a shot of Clarke Hinkle carrying the ball. I believe that this picture appeared on the front of the NFL Media Guide in the early 40's. I wonder if Hinkle received any royalties for the use of his image.

My question is has anyone ever seen one of these before? It measures 5 1/2 by 3, is on thick card stock with a blue felt back and hig gloss (almost coated) front.

Hey John
You do know it's an ink blotter correct? I agree on the time frame too....I collect early baseball ink blotters.....good luck with it...

I was not aware. Although I have seen ink blotters offered before I did not make the connection (and I previously did not own one). Its construction makes a lot more sense knowing now that it is an ink blotter. Thanks.

I saw that & forgot about it. I thought it was model Train sign.

The image I do not think is the same as the one on the 1941 NFL register but recognizable from a postcard made in the late 60's that Hinkle signed like mad.

I doubt the blotter is period to his playing days but probably from the 1950's. But that is just my opinion.

Nice piece though.

Mike
