Default Is this card bogus?

Do you think this is legit? There's a lot of bidding going on for this card (and the seller appears to be selling a suspect Cobb card as well).

I certainly have my doubts.

1. The seller has no history selling cards. In fact, not much history selling anything. She's purchased a few DVD's in the past.

2. The card wasn't scanned, but photo was taken with a digital camera, with a flash, obscuring the image. The photo is turned on it's side, which tends to dis-orient the casual viewer.

3. The hard luck story and fast need for cash are troubling.

4. Won't meet to exchange the items for payment. Doesn't want cash!

5. Has not answered several of my e-mails asking about the return policy if the card turns out to be a reprint.

6. Lives out of the USA which will make law enforcement involvement more complicated.

7. Paypal will cover the buyer for only $200.

In sum, the whole thing smells fishy to me. And at the current price, the Mantle isn't even a great deal. Hard to tell, but the card looks G-VG and is closing in to $5000. I don't see a good outcome for the buyer, but who knows.

I think you answered your own question. The card itself looks like it might be real (the back especially) but maybe a stolen scan? Seller has a 12! No grade for a card like that? I'd stay away.

This discerning seller threw out my bid. Also on the Cobb.

See any other differences in this cut?

I didn't know a seller could throw out a bid. His loss, your gain.

Hey Steve,

The bid the seller threw out came from a guy with a 60% feedback. Is that really you or just a fake name you use to jerk around phony sellers? <LOL>
