Default old judge outdoor cards

I was interested in obtaining an "outdoor" OJ and was wondering if the outdoor oj's are regulated to certain teams? I find the outdoor ones cool in a creepy sorta way. The Harlie Henderson card looks like he's in a cemetary.

I think all the outdoor photos (other than the California League cards) were taken of Brooklyn players...however some of those guys changed teams, but the Brooklyn photos were used. I've noticed a Des Moines card with an outdoor scene.

Dan answered your question accurately, although all of the players are pictured on a baseball field, not in a creepy cemetary. I hope someone buys you a book Sean, but until that time feel free to ask as many questions as you want! Good luck!

Hardie Henderson has ten poses, five originate from the 1887 photoshoot with Brooklyn, five a year later with Pittsburgh. All the 1887 Brooklyn photos were taken outside as were nearly all the California League cards. All others were studio photos. As already mentioned, many of the 1887 Brooklyn cards were re-issued in subsequent years, sometimes updated to track a players movement to another team. The book goes into more detail on why the 1887 Brooklyn cards (and re-issues of those cards) are a bit different from all others.

Note, Brooklyn cards based on photos taken after 1887 were indoor shots (Caruthers, Foutz, etc.).

Best Regards,
Joe Gonsowski

great! I have a post in the BST to trade for an outdoor one but was afraid I wasnt getting a response because the outdoor ones were more valuable. I know they are not in a cemetary, however, the Henderson below looks like hes ina spooky hilly area that reminds me on a cemetary. At any rate, its a creepy in a cool way!
