Default Sanella babe Ruth SGC slab question

Hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum. I have been looking into buying a 1932 Sanella Babe Ruth, as it’s one of the few options for a playing year “card” of his I can afford. There is an auction for one that is in a SGC slab, but it looks different from all the others I’ve seen. Normally the black border just touches the border of the card and has the 4 corner notches. But this one doesn’t have the notches and there is a decent amount of space around the whole card. Also looks to be in a penny sleeve. Has anyone seen a SGC slab like this? I haven’t really heard of the Sanella being counterfeited, but just the slab seems off to me. Below is a picture of the odd one and the second pic is more what I’m used to seeing from SGC.

Card looks good. It appears there just happens to be more clear space between the card and holder. Seller posted more pics so you can now see it better. By the way Type 3's are a bit harder to find than type 2. Good luck

I have never seen an SGC holder without the corner cutouts. That doesn't mean they don't exist, but I've seen a card or two in my time!

With the Sanella being so thin it would be better than using the normal black insert.

How about emailing SGC and asking if it is a new design.

It looks like it might be in a sleeve inside the slab?

I've seen this before with issues that are very small, thin or fragile. The sleeves are used on items like stamps, some Cuban issues, etc. This helps to eliminate the item from shifting and getting stuck between the slab and gasket I would assume. Some gaskets have been custom cut to fit closely around items like diecuts or cut for oddball sizes. It could just be a judgement call.

I could be seeing it totally wrong as well.

Yes, I have 3 T3's in slabs that look just like this. All have the newest label design, like yours, so it must be a newish thing for them. Mine are (were) also in baggies. I cracked two out, but one remains in the holder for now. I'll post pics when I can.

EDIT: Here is one of them. The insert looks pretty bad, I'll probably crack this one too.

Thanks everyone for all the comments! Definitely makes me feel better about it knowing other people have seen this style of holder with SGC.

Perhaps the concern with such a thin issue was that it would slide around and under and over more.

I've never seen a reprint or fake Sanella, and I don't think anyone would fake a Vg slab for Sanella.
