Default Your piece.........

Doesn't look like either of the Selby's I had in my collection. I'd say yours is cut from something else--especially since the photo itself has a blue tint to it. Just my opinion...........

My Colgans of Orville M. Selby, who pitched for Louisville in 1909, then has a gap in his minor league records until he pitches for the Danville Speakers of the 3 I League.

I get them mixed up, as Colgans did, but I think that image is of Seabaugh or Wiesman... I have a Colgans with each name and the same image, showing the left side of the guy's face. I think that's Wiesman. So the image I don't have would be Seabaugh, and he's looking forward...

So I'm guessing that's Seabaugh's image with a Selby caption. I think what you have would be after Mr. Colgan sold his stuff to Auto-Sales, or whoever. That would be the red border cards. When looking at the backs, the E254 Colgans and the Tin Tops have "Colgan's" on the back... the red border cards don't mention "Colgan's" on the back.

Nice Selby's, Tom!!!!

Default Btw...

I think that is in fact Selby, but a different picture...Perhaps a disply box which housed Colgan's, or a Color Ad for a store, etc... I am looking at Selby's floppy ear, and the hair that wisp into a adolescent sideburn... Ok, the floppy ear seems to play out on the colgan chip and the ad piece if you take into account the ad piece angle of Selby...

1- Thank you, Jeremy, for sorting out that Wiesman and Seabaugh mess. My two look like your bottom two, showing that left side of the face. I don't have either of the other two.

2- I agree, now, that it isn't Seabaugh. Still, that looks like something I've seen...

3- It may well be Selby. Where's our ear expert?

FW

Here is the size. 1 7/16 in width and 1 11/16 in length thickness is about 1/32 cardboard When i bought it all it said was: 1905-1916 ORVILLE SELBY MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL CARD
It also said it came in with other items from a turn of the century collection. I don't exactly know what that means.
