I never studied LaRussa extensively, but in comparing the sentiment to witnessed inscriptions, it sure has a similar feel (despite the messiness).

I'd put my money on authentic.

I have had players that where so drunk you would never think they could sign a ball. What ever you think they can and almost better than when there sober. I can not say if it is authentic but dont blame it on his being drunk.

Judging from the other crap that he has sold, it is pretty strong evidence he is not a truthful person. Or he has an uncanny knack of not buying anything authentic.
