Talking 57 Aaron

Thanks to the board I was able to contact a former member here and negotiate a better price than the eBay listing. Couldn't be happier -- other than the fact that I had a similar card to this a couple years back and now it's x2 or more the price

Thanks, get lucky once in a while and got a price below last few eBay comps so can’t complain about a top tier HOFer.

I'm not a big fan of 53 Topps but always loved this one for some reason. This is my first pick up for the new year. The Frank Robinson was a Christmas gift.

Great pick ups, those 57's are hard to find in clean condition. That Seaver is super nice.

Thanks, I may be late to the party, considering the recent spike in prices, but my 2021 focus is on picking up cards I have always coveted and failed to pick up when they were more affordable. I havent purchased many in the past 8 years as I have been collecting memorabilia related to the 1971 Bucs. Although I will continue chasing the 1971 Pirates after 2020 I desperately need a change.

Thankfully many of the Rookie Cards that have gone crazy already reside in my collection in the raw free range condition from my youth. I actually have a beautiful 55 Koufax that I paid $5 for when I was 11( Ford was POTUS). I also have a 53 Paige that I obtained in a lunch time trade for two chocolate milks while in the 5th grade. My Ryan and Bench Rookies were obtained in a trade for 7-11 slurpee cups. I have many such memories from my youth. I wonder how many nice raw versions remain in childhood collections like mine? I'm hoping returning to cards will rekindle feelings and memories of a childhood I was blessed with.

I had a tough choice to make. Either mortgage my entire life in order to get the $13,000 needed to buy the PSA 9 on ebay...or use the $100 gift card I got for Christmas coupled with my credit card points and basically get this really nice, well-centered 5.5 for free. Decisions, decisions...

1971ryan513PSA5.5.jpg

The bottom left corner has a tiny dot of white at the 'point,' and that's it. Black as night this card is. Very happy I jumped at it immediately, because I knew it was going to disappear quicker than a sneeze.

Mike, I am interested in that Paige and am willing to offer you up to eight chocolate milks or ten regular milks, whichever you prefer. PM me if we have a deal.

Thank you. Its a beauty. It will have a 6 month (or whatever the time frame is now) visit to PSA for their 'opinion'.

I decided to pick-up this high-grade Schmidt rookie while the prices are still reasonable.

Campy that a friend and fellow collector bought and sent to me "just because."
Super excited about it and about to break it out of its PSA prison and put it in its rightful place in my "Campy Corner" in my card room! This is what makes the hobby fun IMO. People just enjoying the cards and looking out for other people and being kind and generous.
