Default Ugliest PSA 3 ever?

I wouldn’t touch this card with a 10 ft. pole, and that’s not a bad price at all!

Agree, IMO I could find a PSA 1 with better eye appeal

I think they should introduce a “Scuffed so Bad You Can Barely See the Player” (SSBYCBSTP) qualifier.

Like I always say, "Buy the holder, not the card."

Some eBay sellers would list that card as vg all day long. I almost wrote nr/mint to mint but I don't think anyone could stretch it that far!

If that was graded today it would be a 1 or 1.5

Based on the serial #, that card was probably graded 20+ years ago....amazing how a VG card 20 years ago is a PR-FR card today.

WTH? I've seen PSA 0.2s in better shape than that Hank.

It's amazing to me how much the grading rules have changed over the years, with little/no apparent accountability on the part of the TPGs.

I don't think the rules have changed. I think early on they gave out more favorable grades to try to get business. It is not like all early graded cards are over graded. I see many they got correct. Now they can't handle the business they have. They don't need to give as many favors.

Ok, maybe like baseball itself, the 'unwritten rules' have changed.

Aaaand, the card sold! It wasn't a bad price, but still, someone definitely bought the grade and not the card.

It looks like a Claude Monet painting. But yeah, the grade is off...

Old grade. Would be in the 1.5 range at best today. Regardless, just proof of the fact that PSA has never been terribly consistent.

This is why I truly don't understand the obsessing with grading. It is literally someone else's subjective opinion. We have seen so many threads on questionable grades. And now it is very evident the criteria itself has changed. What if it changes again when the current bubble bursts?

Fair.but for those coming into the hobby if nothing else it gives some piece of mind the card is original/unaltered. Helps for resale. Some will not buy a raw card no matter what.

Of course there's exceptions to that too so nothing is 100%

Consistently terrible, maybe.
