I vote fake. Looks like two laser/photocopies (front & back) got pasted together.

Definitely a reprint.

The corners and borders of the reprints don't look close to how these cards really age. The color's off and the print on the back is more bold than it should be.

Also, in T206 terms, this would be similar to finding a Cobb Green portrait with a Drum back which is an impossible combination. The wagner with Weber back has never been documented and although possible it likely never will be found.

These reprints are dangerously close, but no cigar.

Robert

"Nowhere on the card does it state to be a reprint."

I really hope it's real, because I hate to see someone spend that kind of money for a bad card, but whenever I read the sentence above in an eBay listing, my brain automatically fills in "...but it is."

Hi Steve,

I can't blame the buyers. They're pretty darn close.

There are obvious reprints for this set out there that are smaller and look different but many have been fooled by these particular reprints.

I've still never seen one in person, but would like to someday.

Rob

Right edge near the bottom you will see an extra line. Looks like they didnt cut out the fake good and left too much of the edge or the original it was made from. IMO

Also like Quan said, the top 2 scans (in his post) show a dark almost black line at top of the grass, and also the grass is black and green, not green and yellow like that nice bottom card.

And the top 2 cards have the same unusual white (damage?) spots (above bat) and white line along the top of the blue sky.

It went too cheap for a real Wagner, and way too high for a reprint. Either it's real or it isn't- there's no middle ground.

And this one isn't.

Found another, but advertized as a reprint at least. Same white dot too.

1) Check his feedback the only cards this guy sells are 2007s.
2) "Nowhere does it say reprint on it."

'Nuff said

Also.............
Seller mentions the card has a book value of 6k, but 2 bucks for shipping and no insurance available, hope the buyer comes to his senses!

In addition to what has already been said about the card, the colors just don't look right. I have not seen that dark of blue on an authentic D304 Wagner.

I also say it's fake! $1400.00' too much of a gamble, why didn't the seller get the card graded?

I emailed the guy 5 times and he emailed me back 3. I asked him if he would accept a return if the card was deemed a forgery or tampered with. He simply stated over and over that the card has not been tampered with. He would not respond to the question of authenticity. I told him if he agreed to accept a return I would bid very strong. He never responded. FAKE, and he knows it!

You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a fake D304 Wagner on Ebay right now.
