I just got my November 16, 2007 issue of SCD and it has a nice article in the Vintage Cards section about the members of the Network 54 Vintage Baseball Card Forum and the Skydash Collection.

Since not that many of us still subscribe, could you summarize the article for us?

Chris Nerat quotes extensively from our ealiest posting in the forum following the request for information from Skydash. He mentions Brian Weisner by name as being especially helpful to Skydash. I'll let Brian pick it up from here. I am among those who usually intend to let my subscription lapse but every once in a while they do have something of interest.

Its going to be very intresting to see what they all bring at auction! Still makes me a little sick to think 2 boxes of memorabilia were thrown away with this collection! One can only guess(other than the uniforms) what was in there!!

Isn't in nice to see something that is positive all the way around. Great article, Chris. And I wish SkyDash well. I just hope he kept a few of the cards to pass down to his kids and grandkids.

I as well was quite pleased with how the article turned out. Chris was very repectful of my wishes to remain anonymous,as well as writing the story true to my recollection. He did a wonderful job. I also wanted to make sure that this forum was mentioned prominently,as the expert advice I received from you guys helped guide me through this process relatively painlessly.I was quite fortunate to find this forum, and I sincerely appreciate all of your help.

Skydash,

Thanks for the public relations help, I'm sure that Leon and Brian appreciate it. I'm sure Board Members got a kick from being mentioned in the article.

Peter C.

This was one of my favorite stories/situations since joining Net54. It truly is a once in a lifetime find and I'm very excited for Skydash to see it come to the auction block.

By the way the other favorite situation is the painted turtle charity drive....please let me know if this gets underway again

Regards and Congratulations,
SGL

I have seen a couple of the "Skydash" posts, but have only seen that SGC 92 Jim Thorpe Colgans Tin Top.

Can anyone provide a small list of other noteable cards in Sky's find (and grades if possible) ?

Super curious, Steve

A very welcome bit of nice coverage. Hope the maintstream press can take a break from Brittany Spears coverage and pick up this story about collecting.

This article was some great reading, and the story just makes you think that there are good things about this hobby. I never stop looking for hard to find items, because you just never know what may come your way.

I too look for good stories in the hobby and while I'm anti-Sports Collector's Digest, I did have someone fax me this (it was difficult to locate someone that still has a subscription to this once proud and now worthless hobby periodical) story and I really enjoyed the heck out of it. I really enjoy reading about finds because somewhere, someplace, there is some hidden sports treasure out there that is honest and untouched.

Robert -

You don't need a subscription to the physical publication to read some of the articles - they're on the SCD website FREE. This article was on there !!!

So where are all the cards going to be sold?

I am very interested in seeing what else is/was there.

James G

Looking for 1915 Cracker Jacks and 1909-11 American Caramel E90-1.

Hi James,
The majority of the cards will be sold in the next 2 Masto auction in December and April. There are some E90-1's, 92's, 93's, 101's and a nice group of E98's with all the colors. Sorry no Cracker Jacks, but lots of T205's and T206's instead. Be well Brian

PS And the nicest Tin Tops in the world...
