Default If you could ask Santa (or other provider) for only one card, what would it be?

Posted By: Ed McCollum

Assuming we've all been good, what card would you ask Santa, or anyone, to bring you? I haven't been that good, so I know I'm not getting any cards this year, but if I could, I'd ask Santa for a Hindu-backed Ed Killian/Pitching t206. However, I think the elves only made one back in 1910 or 1911, and someone already got it, so I'm out of luck. But how about you?

A T231 Fans card - maybe the undiscovered Walter Johnson one, or a Ruth!

If Santa brought me the PSA8 Wagner I'd sell it and buy a lowgrade T206 Wagner for <$250,000 then I'd take the rest of the money and pay off my house and bills and still have enough left over to bank and live off the interest.

i'm with leon. that's like when the genie says you have 3 wishes and one of your wishes is for a million wishes. good thinking.

once i sold the aforementioned wagner, i'd get an e98 hippo vaughn. in the interest of preserving (somewhat) the integrity of the original post, i won't list the cards i'd buy after the vaughn, which would be many, given the windfall i'd be sitting on from the wagner sale)

e.g., T206 Wagner, Baltimore News Ruth, CJ Jackson, and the like, I'd be thrilled if Hanukkah Harry brought me one of these each night:

--1925 Benny leonard "Flying Fist" Exhibit
--T220 Silver Jas. J. Corbett
--1939-47 Salutations Exhibit Lou Gehrig
--1948-49 Leaf Satchel Paige
--1954 Bowman Ted Williams
--1934 Goudey Gehrig portrait
--1939 Play Ball Ted Williams
--1918 Zeenut Lefty O'Doul

I'm too old (and big) to ask Santa for a pony...

so, if we're talking pie in the sky, I'd like an N172 Norris O'Neill otherwise I'd settle for an N172 Jim Tyng or Ned Williamson & mascot.

My pick would be: d381 Wagner with tab

just in case the elves have trouble with that... I would ask for an e94 Wagner (other than gold)

I could get ridiculous with Santa....
and ask for an e107 Wagner or a T206 Wagner -

but if there is a scale between deserving the e107 Wagner or coal - I may be closer to the coal.... so how could I ask?

A Honus Wagner Novelty Cutlery or PC796 Sepia Postcard. I know that's two, but its the same image. Thanks Santa!

I was going to say a T206 Honus Wagner, but in the interest of being realistic I'm going to say a N172 Bid McPhee.

Santa stopped bringing me stuff right around the age of 10. Never figured out why.

Assuming the rest of you gobbled up all the T206 Wagners, I'd take an 1888 Sporting Extra Cigarettes Chicago Tourists, wrapped in a couple of E221 Bishop Team cards.

Sounds like Santa's elves just didn't make enough of the cards you and I are after.

Guess that could be said for everyone's wish, except if there were more, it would drive down the price a lot are expecting to make from the sale after Santa's/Harry's vist to pay off the mortgage, college loans, etc.

I would be happy with any common Kalamazoo Bats baseball player. I have several actresses but it is not the same!!!!!!!! If not that, then a 1954 Wilsons Franks Ted Williams would be nice.

I'd like to have any Cal League N172 card in nice condition... ok, I'll take it in any condition...

If I can't have that then I don't want anything from that fat slob that will again disappoint me. Every year, all I ask for is cardboard, every year the fat guy doesn't come through... I'd think there was an elf out there somewhere that could come up with something from my want list (T210 Jackson, Baltimore News Ruth, T206 Wagner). It's not like I'm asking for the impossible...

Santa did get me my 2007 card, R21 Ripley's BION No. 34 - "The Great John L." , so maybe I'll get the Strongman card.

If I was very good this year, I'd ask Santa for a T205 Hoblitzell "No Stats." Since I'm not perfect, but good-hearted generally, I'd settle for a T202 with Joe Wood and Tris Speaker on it! I'd even replace Santa's milk and cookies with some jalepeno poppers and a good single malt if it helped...

Take Care,
Geno
