Default Any help with this early Cabinet photo?

Hi,

Trying to get a rough date for this cabinet photo. Nothing in the way of wording or text identifiers.

Card measures 4" x 5" with rounded corners, image is 2 1/4" x 3 1/4". Thank you.

Cool picture. I would say turn of the century. The batter appears to have a mustache, but none of the onlookers have one. Maybe he was slow to change his style.

The batter in particular gives off an 1890ish Casey-at-the-Bat vibe, but the photo is definitely post-1900
because home plate is shaped like, y'know, home plate.

I wonder if this is actually a staged image rather then a photo of an actual game. The fans are literally five feet from the catcher. Who would do that if there was really a pitch coming in. That would also explain why the batter and the equipment seem to be anachronistic

This is really great information, thank you! I was also wondering if this may have been set up. Those fans are VERY close to the action!

It also looks like is right hand is below his left hand on the bat. Does he hit crossed handed or is he a lefty standing the wrong way. Come to think of it, he does look like Dan Brouthers
