Default 1952

And on what he made in 1952, Mickey could not have bought one of his cards today

I know I've shown them a bit, but I'll post again. Here are my two:

Not the best condition, but I am happy to own them.

Talk about CLUTCH CREASES! If not for the crease, I'd never have been able to buy it Makes me want to start a thread called CLUTCH CREASES where we show cards that have one key flaw that doesn't disrupt eye appeal, but lowers the price to an affordable level!

Where is the crease ?

Look at my mantle matty...if this card doesnt have back damage i was never able to buy it.

My mantle have the front eye appeal of a graded 5 or 6
No crease,sharp corner, perfect color...

hmmmm, for some reason your scans are not showing up, Nelson.

I also never noticed the clutch crease on Matt's Mantle, but after he mentioned it I can spot it in the upper right corner (very faint).

As a concerned citizen, I must say that anyone who would spend so much money on a '52 Mantle, clearly must have a vintage card addiction.

As a friend to you all, I want to help, and the first step is to be rid of these temptations. Therefore, I suggest you all send your '52 Mantles to my address. It's for your own good...

ok chuck thanks i will fix it.

here is my big scan of my 52 Mantle. The line in the mickey face is in the color... not a crease. This card look like a 4 to 6 grade on the front eyes appeal . sharp corner, no crease, good centering, beautifull bright color.

Awesome cards Matt, Nelson, Al, and Chris. Never get tired of looking at your PSA 1 Nelson, beautiful card for the grade, and I love lower grade cards.

Brian, I would send one your way, but I don't want you to get addicted.

Thx everyone
I think it is probably one of the nice graded 1 mantle for the front eyes appeal

The back is not ugly..only little glue or paper lost at couple place.

But i think perhaps upgrade in the futur my mantle.

Ehh, with something as nice as that, I cannot see the point in upgrading. Who cares what the back looks like? And, I cannot imagine it is that bad. That said, I don't think I have ever upgraded a card. I downgraded one once--I find postcards that have been filled out much cooler than blank ones.

OP- G.Vezina
Upgrade??
Well, take a look at mine PSA2(MK) and compare it to yours.
Yeah, yours has a really NICE front, and mine has that crease and scruffing.
My back looks very good...and yours??? paper loss..
Pending the back..i'd say yours should be or as equal to mine..i definetly think it could bump a 1/2 grade...but like i say
paperloss' is how much loss??
Take it to PSA...and liekly gets a 1.5-2.5

Holy Cow-- Jon C
Thats like a very nice 2...too nice..i dont see creases, just scruffing..a lot better than 2
Unless its at the mid-to bottom right going thru the box

MattyC---your has vibrant color---awesome looking..for just 1 crease..i seen 4's look worse.

Thanks for the kind words. You're right - no creases (very small spider wrinkle on the right side border) and fairly decent centering for a Mantle. When I bought it, I figured it got the "2" because of the 'scruffing'.

There is some serious frosting on the holder. Top left corner and then a little lower on the left side. I know nothing about the card but do know it is easy to crack a PSA holder and leave a lot less frosting than that holder has.

Agreed. Too suspect for me. I would not touch it based on the holder alone.

I was not buying this..but watching sales as they go by.

I acutally sent them a message, to catch their response (not even mentioniong the frosting)-- just about how they acquired it and if they sent it in for grading or buy from someone else.
I already looked up the Certif, and of course it checked good.

UPDATED RESPONSE:
Earlier this year.......if you have concerns, I would suggest not bidding. I only say this as I am not offering returns. The holder seems to be in as good as shape as any other PSA holder. They always have signs of slight distress if you look at all of them in some spots, but I can assure you they are tough to crack. You can always get it reslabbed by PSA for I think $5, but again, I would suggest not bidding if you have doubts. Thanks for your interest regardless!

Thanks
Rob

I looked thru past Ebay sales...and could NOT find this one

The only we are going on is the evidence of frosting which is clear.
Anytime you see that, we should be careful.
Not saying the card is not or could be real. I looked and only seen 1 area i didnt like (prt on back- prt. in USA)
the red box at top is shifted to the left, but looks right, like it is O/C and the stitching on the ball and the letter fonts look right. Even the part where it lines up with Dimaggio.
Like i say, we are just looking at the holder. I like to hear if you find a previous listing/sale to confirm anything.
CHRIS I DID FIND IT IN VCP IT DID SELL ON EBAY LAST JAN. A LITTLE OVER 5k---THE FROSTING DOES SCARE ME ABIT---NOT SURE WHAT I AM GOINT TO DO AS FAR AS MY BID---THE CARD LOOKS GOOD SOME CREASING HERE AND THERE BUT NOT BAD FOR A PSA 1.5---THANKS AGAIN, DON

Ricky-- AWESOME CARD. What collector wouldn't want that in their collection? Congrats. Nowhere near enough 52T Mantles to go around for all the guys who want one, and that is one with a clear image to boot.

Gorgeous Mantle. I for one love the 52 "well loved". Something about a little wear on that card gives at certain shine. That PSA 1 is exactly the kind of 52 I hope to add to my collection one of these days. Promised myself it would be a nice 40th bday present...7 years to make it happen! That is unless Matty upgrades and needs a new home for that 3...

There really are not enough to go around. I would have loved to add one in 2013 but for what I paid for my 51 I couldn't have touched a 52 with strong eye appeal.

I love your PSA 1 Ricky. I spent a year looking for a 52 Topps for my collection, during that entire time, I don't think I saw any 1s with that kind of eye appeal.

Why buy 5+'s of ANYTHING when you can find a cool 1s, own a copy for your collection, and then spend the rest on other beautiful lower-grade cards! Bottom line, give me a PSA 1 52 Mick and a PSA 1 Balt New Ruth over a PSA 2+ Balt News Ruth all day and a thousand times on Sunday!

Thanks guys. I bought it over 10 years ago...so it was a LOT more affordable back then... I don't even know that if I would upgrade even if I had the financial means to do so... I think I'm like Matty C, I would spread my money around and get more cards...
