1988 Topps Information/Images Needed
Onward and upward...
For 1988 Topps: 1) Images of printing sheets A, B, D and F needed. E would be great as mine is not very good. 2) Do we know whether sheets were available at some retailers like they were in 1987 and 1985 at least? 3) Any information/experience with the 1989 Spring Training trip if there's a winner out there somewhere. 4) Large Cello Case image/information - NOT the 90 Card Jumbos. 5) Tiffany Set Case image 6) Tiffany Traded sets came packaged in a case with 6 Topps UK sets - do we know if they also came just six sets per case like in other years, or were they solely available with the UKs? 7) Was there a factory set issued in a white box in addition to the plain brown cardboard and the illustrated box? Only ones I've seen advertised are in boxes coded for 1987; doesn't prove they weren't used in 1988, but I haven't been able to figure it out for sure. TCDB lists a slew of these Topps Company Store inserts as having been in 1988 packs.
I remember them well from 1989 and 1990 but I never saw one in the 1988 material I've opened over the years. Because the backs describe the prize as a trip to the 1989 spring training, it makes sense they were 1988 issues, but I am at a loss. Does anyone have any information on these? |

Hard to believe that the 1988 Topps base set is worthy of academic study. It is the most boring set ever produced.
Good on you for having such dedication to the mission.

Actually, I think the '88 and '89 sets are, after 1983, are the best looking sets of the 1980s. I know they get a hard rap because of the overproduction, but I think it's still very nice.
