I think the dirt on the right is supposed to be the path to the dugout, since it doesn't have a baseline, and the dirt on the left is the third baseline.

In the famous photo of him sliding into third it always has, and always will, look to me as if he's sliding into first. I don't know why, it's just a mental thing.

It looks more like he is flying than sliding for sure and it seems like he is kicking the catcher in the nuts. Just my take.
