Mike, from my records and experience there was only one pin produced in 1931-Don Heffner. The pins were produced by the Lucke Badge Co. of Baltimore. There was a 1930 pin produced of Joe Hauser, which obviously would be in higher demand than the Heffner. However, there was also a pin produced in 1933 (that shares the same design) of Harry Smythe, that appears to be tougher than the first two mentioned, I have only seen one or two of them. In all likelihood there was one produced in 1932, but I have yet to see one.

Mike,
I think you might be talking about the Don Heffener DAY pin. Its dated on the bottom rim 1931? Pin is betweem 3/4-7/8s of an inch. Depending on condition cracks, foxing, dents, etc. I will give a range of 80-500 . But a good bet for a nice decent one would be in the 250-400 dollar range. Al

Al, that is the pin I was talking about too. In 1930 there was Joe Hauser Day, In 1931 there was Don Heffner Day, and in 1933 apparently there was Harry Smythe Day. Seems odd they wouldn't have had a similar event in 1932, but I haven't seen a pin from that year.

Hi Rhett,
Yes you are right I find that odd myself. The way those day pins were chosen I wouldnt even venture a guess at who it may have been in 1932!!

The pin is dated 1931. So it is likely part of a series over the early 1930's. Thanks for the info,
Mike Gray

While it is true that one sold for quite a bit, I have seen the same Heffner pin sell for less than half of that on more than one occasion. I would put the value in the $200-300 range if it is nice.
