When a seller finds out he has a fake card for sale and does not pull the auction...
Posted By: josh
This guy knew from the first day he had it for sale that it was a fake. I was in contact with him about the card and let him know it was not real. He told me he appreciated the information and he will "get to the bottom of it". I thought he would at least put in the description about it not being real. I guess he got the best of an innocent buyer. I wish there is something that can be done about this behavior. I guess by hiding the buyers identity is a sign of something not right as well. |

When a seller responds with a message like that, "I'll get to the bottom of it", they are simply putting a statement out there to hold you off while making it sound like they are actually doing something. If they really wanted to get to the bottom of it, they would end the auction and find out instead of letting it run to the end. |

That is an obvious poor fake and whoever bought it, if a legit bidder, just got burned..... |

I know a lot of people are not interested in strip cards but I thought I would point this out. In this thread I mentioned an auction where the seller knew he had a fake w551 and still ended up selling it for around $140.00. If you look at the completed auctions for w551 and current ones as well, the fakes are popping up at a rapid pace. I am not sure if people remember when there were a whole bunch of fake (Late 1980s) w551 cards going around. I personally like this issue and I am very familiar with it as well. For the most part the graded ones are good but the fakes have been popping up at a fast pace for the last 16 months. I know a lot of you do not even care or like strip cards but for the ones who do buy... I thought I would let people know.... |
