Default Good Experience with Non E-bay Dealer

I ordered some commons from deanscards.com without seeing scans of the cards. I figured I would end up returning half of them due to over grading. Much to my delight, I found the cards were very conservatively graded and some were undergraded. His ex/mt cards looked near mint to me. Dean has a wide variety of cards in his inventory. Anyway, I thought I'd give him some props because it's good to see a reliable alternative to E-bay.

My wife bought a card for me from there(as a surprise), she said they were very accomodating and helpful. The card is probably EX, she refused to tell me the price she paid so I can't tell you if it was a good deal or not. But I guess the service was very good.

If that is indeed your true birth name, I must salute your parents' sense of humor. I love the moniker! It ranks second fiddle only to that of "midwestsportsbuffet", which conjures up images of some odd, Sizzler-like eatery featuring all-you-can-eat Cuno Barragan.

The screenname is from a pro football Net54 forum, I just haven't made a new one for here as I don't post much. I collect 50's - 80's Baseball (I have a few 33 Goudeys) but I like the information on all the pre-war stuff. I read the threads here in an attempt to learn about those cards. There seems to be a very interesting cast of characters here.

Steve, my purchase wasn't pre-war but they do stock pre-war. Dean doesn't seem to restrict his inventory to one special area. I think that's a good thing too. You can get some T-206's and pick up some packs of shiny stuff at the same place.

Dunno about this.

Dean's Cards tends to use GAI to grade most of our lower priced graded cards because of better service and lower cost. In my opinion, GAI has a much more consistent product. The "downside" to GAI is that they tend to grade a half to a full grade harder than PSA.

GAI is particularly tough on pre-war cards, whereas PSA and the other companies tend to relax their standards just a bit for these older cards. Quite often our customers will buy a card graded by GAI, remove it from the case, submit it to PSA and receive a grade that is a half-grade to full grade higher than the grade given by GAI.

Turd Ferguson was a name used in an SNL Jeopardy Sketch.

Dan is correct, my real name is Gene (not quite as catchy as Turd by any means).
