Bob, Those cards look very good for the grades they got. Do they have some back damage?

And congrats on finishing your set!

Nice Chance PC Dan! I was the underbidder on that one. Congrats!

Have you ever seen any others like that?

I have never seen another one. The image is similar to the larger Royal Tailor advertising ads. I had one of larger Royal Tailor Cobbs and recently sold it to a board member. Cool images!

Dan- Thanks, it was a struggle, that's for sure. People are starting to look at alternative sets like Tattoo Orbits and DeLongs lately. No back damage on Haines or Lyons, just typical SGC undergrading. The Alexander has an exmt to nrmt front and a couple of tiny spots of paper loss, surely not enough to knock it all the way down to a 20, that's ridiculous. The only other Alexander I have seen is the last 2 years for sale was Kevin Savage's PSA 8 which looked just like this one on the front but had a clean back. It went for a ton. I was happy to pay $40 for this one. I found out later from a potential bidder who didn't know I was also sniping that AuctionSniper (I use ESnipe) went haywire last night and his bids and others never got placed. For once I got a break!
Hey Adam, hope you are reading this, maybe it is a new trend!

It's always a thrill to go through your safes and find a card you didn't realize you had. Back is perfect, will be breaking out and sending to SGC.

...good eye-the Cobb was indeed a 20. It is now a zero as I cracked it out and it resides in a 15 page sheet. Lotsa green backs on this thread. Now I need to find the bat on (actually, I need to find the cash for it but that's another story).

It's tough being a set builder. This card puts me about 1/5 of the way there. Baby steps.

Thanks, Tbob. You're right, we are a dying breed.

Which is sad, because one of the coolest things in the world is a complete vintage set.

And to stay on topic, here's another one that came in a few days ago. I figure I better hurry up and post it now, lest the Forum Gods banish me for posting it in the June pickup thread in a few days

The PSA 2 basically cost $8 bucks. The Johnson and the Smith southern leaguer will make their way into PSA holders soon to protect their battle scars.
