Not sure a $10 card warrants refinancing the house in order to buy...unless you live in a fairly low end house....

Gotta love the fact that grandpa collected all kinds of cards. I liked the Garbage Pail Kids in the Cigar box with the T206, that was a nice touch.

I love these auctions. I do them once in a while, too.

In the spirit of good fun, I offered some advice on how to extract more money out of grandpa's house.

Here comes the heat? It doesn't appear that Young is ready for the pitch. Maybe he should raise his bat and get ready.......And what's with the "Blah Blah Blah"? Doesn't seem like he has a lot of respect for his grandfather...Kind of rude I think. Also kind of sad to think that someone would need to seek refinancing on the house, to buy a $20.00 card. I better br careful who I get into the next elevator with, as the seller and I live in the same town.

Edited to say, I was using sarcasism as well. Very cool e bay write up. Loved it.

No rain, just cloudy here. I slept for a few hours last night and for some reason I had a dream about goofy eBay auctions.
I was timing how long it would take to be posted. Pretty quick somewhere in a hour. Also used the Young card for the extra Cy Young searches. SHOW ME YOUR HITS!

SDBH!

that this may be considered by ebay to be "shill" bidding. There may actually be some mope-a-dope outside of our community that may want this pos.

On the other hand it is not the lister who has enlisted us to bid on his card so maybe it really isn't.

Was dengst du?

Unless I'm misreading his feedback it seems that the seller just bought that very card on ebay for about $19.

that's not the same card. Probably an upgrade from the pos now listed. The PSA 1 makes no mention of the paper loss on the front of the card.

I absolutely LOVE the "blah blah blah" statements about grandpa. It's so rude and sooo funny! Anyone outside this board must be thinking he's out of his mind!

Thanks for a bit of levity on a crappy Friday!

Edited to add the "here come the heat" line as one that I literally laughed out loud about...doesn't get much better than this!

What do ya think guys? An ebay listing that'll bust your gut and the highest ending bid amount takes the "Hall of Shame" Honors! Of course the winning bidder would have to be a board member to keep things on the up & up
This was a real pissa, GrandPa would be proud of his "YOUNG" Hanksta! Maybe we could call the Shame Award the "Hanksta" in his honor of the friday Laugh party....
Happiness Is?,

Foiled!

This is waaaayyy to out of hand. I was never expecting for it to reach $9.72 (thanks kaz.com)

My recent Irv Young purchases was my brillant idea to try to capitalize on the release of the Cy Young award. My boy Mr. Johan Santana!

Sean,

What would happen if everybody started retracting their bids? Could you imagine - that $9.72 could drop way off to a few dollars... it could ruin the auction and your good name with it.... oh my...

Wouldn't you know it. Just when all the recent auction activity has you financially tapped out, BOOM! Something like this pops up and you're stuck having to watch from the sidelines.

Well good luck to all of you going for this card. I just can't get into a major bidding war right now.

Joann

This auction has only been up for a day and it has over 400 hits on the counter. Should we have a pool for the # of hits this gets over the 10 days? We could each chip in a SCG10 T206 and the winner takes all.

Well, the idea was to make a fun and entertaining listing. Which I think was accomplished?

The next move is that all the proceeds from the auction (after eBay's cut) will be donated to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. The donation will be made in the buyer name and I will furnish proof.

The BB/BS is a great organization and would benefit greatly from this.

Thanks for the bids!

you deserve $100+ for that card ---
just in the entertainment value of the listing alone.

Phenomenal job!

The anticipation of opening that box... and then the BINGO of finding Garbage Pail Kids cards... and the blah blah blah.....

just great great stuff!

you da man.
