Default Best t206 deals

I'm pretty sure we've had a thread like this before, but I'm going to start it up again anyways. I would like to see the best deals you've gotten for cards compared to their actual values.

Let me start:

I paid only $90 each for my Ed Cicotte and Joe Doyle raw.

Actively collecting t206 Hall of Famers, Southern Leaguers, and Various backs in good to excellent condition. Love talking cards too.

Will probably always be a little over 100 low grade T206s including minor hall of famers and southern leaguers for $100.

Paid $11 for a Jiggs Donohue that had amazing eye appeal but was advertised as trimmed. After the sale I looked at it closer and didn't see the trim. Sent it in to SGC and it came back NM 84.

Got this brown Lenox at auction for far, far less than what I expected to pay. Easily my best T206 purchase.

I wouldn't say this was my best deal but it is my most recent best deal. This is probably in the top 3 in toughest brown Hindu's. I was shocked at the hammer. 25% of what I expected.

The hammer on that one surprised me too. I actually considered bidding on that card to start a second Gibson run, but my funds were tied up in not winning the Mello-Mint instead. Too bad about the chipping in the bottom right corner, but great card still.

Regards,

Richard.

I bought this one in 2008. I needed the player and the Piedmont back. I think I paid about $35 for it on ebay. I didn't realize it was a 42 until it arrived. The seller must not have noticed either.

Similarly, I've had two board members tell me how they each bought what they thought was a Snodgrass, only to find that they had bought a Nodgrass instead. I'll let them tell the rest if they so choose.

Default t206 deals

Was in a find at the local card shop that eventually found its way to me to sell on ebay. I was very happy to part with $225 for it in a deal brokered with my consignor.

I picked this up on eBay for $1.25 a couple of years ago. It was listed as a reprint. It was ungraded at the time, of course. I asked the seller if he had any other similar "reprints" for sale and, unfortunately he did not.

Was this auction in 2004? I think this was the one where the auction house described the back as a Lenox, but not as a Brown?

Then I'm probably confusing it with another half-remembered auction.

Actually, Rob's Lajoie did sell in a Hunt's auction as a black Lenox.... It was later slabbed and sold as brown....awesome card... Wish I had bought it, but it ended up in the right collection.
Be well Brian

Great card Rob.

Surprisingly they still slip by...within the last year a brown Lenox sold at a major house without the color designation...missing that one hurt

Default Best T206 Deal

Easily my best deal was winning one-hundred T206 cards for $15. Lower grade for sure, but a great deal, even at the time, which was in 1976. Frank Nagy auction.

Default Rare combo?

I bought this at the SMR listed price for a PSA 5.(awhile back)
PSA has yet to grade a Harry Hinchman with a EPDG back.
Maybe I'll have it reholdered this year at the National.
