Buyer beware: Possible Fake PSA '63 Rose RC on ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-Topps-R...item2a2d1c58dd
Even though it's a PSA graded card, 2 of the 4 pics used in the listing are close-ups cropping out the case. All of the close up pics are crisp and clear. But amazingly, the seller's camera just can't seem to focus on the full shots. The reason? On the full shots, even though it's blurry, you can see a distinct difference in the PSA holder on the bottom compared to the top. When a PSA holder is opened up or separated to remove the card it creates "frosting" or crytalization, a cloudy white color as opposed to a clear color. My assumption is the seller is trying to disguise the frosting with a blurry pic. The label and cert number may even be original, but in all likelihood the real card was removed and replaced with either a fake or a lesser condition card. The seller even goes so far as to let buyers know there are "dig" marks in the corner and plays coy by suggesting it may have been dropped. Another possibility is the seller decided he didn't like the grade of the card, started to remove it from its slab and then had second thoughts about doing it. He may simply be selling a legit card in a damaged case. Either way, if you see a frosted PSA case it should raise flags and beware!

The frosting does look very suspicious around the edges. Thanks for sharing.

seller feedback
So, I went back and checked out the seller's feedback thinking maybe this might be a guy who doesn't know what he's selling and then I found this lovely nugget:

I asked him for the cert number on the label. Wanted to gather as much info before I put him on blast. I notified the buyer of the Unitas card who lost his case against him in case he might still be able to appeal with new ammo, idk? I feel bad for that guy.

Cert. Number
The seller responded with the cert. number.
It checks out - 21216429 - so at the very least the label looks legit.

The listing was ended by the seller. Good for him, I'm glad he did the right thing.

It's too bad to see stuff like this. For me, I am thankful to have net54 as a learning resource for card collecting, as it does require a bit of hard earned money. I wish people wouldn't try to con hobbiests, but where there's money to be made, unfortunately I guess we run into these things. Thanks to all you informed, educated collectors and sellers for keeping us informed
