Default Quincy Trouppe only MLB hit, ticket stub.

Hi all,

Wanted to share my most recent discovery. I'm a big Quincy Trouppe fan after researching his 1935 Bismarck Churchill team and due to my family ties to North Dakota. I became more interested in Trouppe and began to look for items pertaining to his career. Always looking for ticket stubs from his six game major league carrer, this is the only one I have come across. On May 10, 1952, Trouppe collected his first and only major league hit in front of 14,000. This would also be the last game of his carrer as he was demoted the next day. This is a neat piece from one man's career that has no doubt been all but forgotten by most.

Sweet pick-up, thanks for starting this post and sharing!
I always love to hear from other collectors that share the same passions I have and absolutely agree that Quincy Trouppe deserves more attention then he gets or has ever gotten.

The following items are a few Trouppe (Troo-pay) items I have:

1945 Mexican League Card

IMG_0002.jpg

IMG_0003.jpg

1948-49 Marianao (Cuba) with Lorenzo Cabrera and Howie Moss
IMG_0004.jpg

1941 Puerto Rico Contract with Barney Brown signature as well.
The contract was made out to $50 per week plus transportation to and from the US and boarding expenses.

She's as real and rare as it gets, from the 1945 Mexican set, only a few of them around.

Those are swesome! Did you recently pick up that contract? I saw it on eBay and almost bought it but it was a little out of range price wise. Those signed album pages are beautifful, especially the one with the photo!

Yes the contract was the one you saw on EBay, I thought it was a steal, it’s from his first season in Puerto Rico.

The album pages came together in a complete album with each page signed by a different player, they are from the late 40’s.
Other players include Chet Brewer (2), Sam Bankhead, Piper Davies, Vic Pellot (Power) and around 20+ others.
The person who got the autos was a woman and must have been known the players quite well as there are “flirty little love notes” from some of the players along with their signatures.

Thank you Jake, sometimes you can get lucky, I was willing to pay almost double what I won it for.

I’ll post a few more Trouppe things once I can find them and if anyone else has anything please share as well.
Happy New Years!

Steve

To the Starter of this Thread, did you now just sell this ticket?

You started this thread earlier today, but the item just shows sold as of about 10 minutes ago?

Ended 440 Central time:

I bought the ticket today. Was negotiating price but wanted to share the ticket with others on here due to its value of baseball history.

Very cool! The game in which they formed the first African-American battery was the day before this on May 9. That was Trouppe's first start at catcher as well. The game on the 10th was his only complete game.

Thanks for sharing!

What a fantastic find, and a career-contemporary item at that! Congrats on a great pickup!

Here's my one and only item of him - a 1972 Puerto Rican League Sticker #225 Quincy Trouppe. I am still hoping to find a PC or nice portrait photo of him in his Cleveland Indians Uniform, but for now this fills the slot in my collection.

Ticket came in the mail, thanks to all that showed me their Trouppe collections. It is amazing how a piece of paper can be a connection to such a significant moment! I found a gem with this one.

Found a few more Trouppe items.
The first is a baseball magazine from 1942 in Mexico and the other is a '49 Alerta photo card.
Again, very underrated, underappreciated star player.
