Default Question on 1950s PM10 Ted Williams Pin

I picked up this Ted Williams PM10 pin at a flea market today and have a question on the dimensions. I measured my pin, and it is roughly 1-1/4" diameter. When I looked up this pin in the 2009 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards (1950s-60s PM10 Baseball Player Pins - Name on top, pg 289-90), the Ted Williams pin description has the diameter at 1-3/4." Is the catalog correct? Does anyone else out there have this particular pin, and if so, what is the diameter?

Default PM10 Ted Williams

Hi Jason,
That pin comes in 2 sizes . 1 1/4 and 1 3/4 inch in size. The 1 3/4 inch size one is what is refered to as the PM10 stadium pin. This pin also has been reproed but by the look of yours ,yours is real. That small circle dimple in the center and no blur on the front tells me that. It is a very common pin in the 1 1/4 inch size and sells in the range of 5-20 dollars. The 1 3/4 inch size goes in the range of 25-75 dollars. I hope that helps you. Al

Al, can you describe the circle dimple please. I'm not sure I understand and I see these pins frequently, but avoid them as repros. Are they present on both the large and small versions? Thanks

Default Ted W Pin

Hi Mike,
If you look at the center of the first picture that Jason posted you will see a small circle on the back of the pin right in the center. The repro ones dont seem to have that small circle on the back and also the front of the repros is usually a bit blurry. This is for the 1 1/4 inch size. The larger 1 3/4 inch size is usually just flat and I havnt seen one yet with the small union stamp on the back. As we know some pins have the small unoin "bug" or logo some donot. That doesnt mean that they arenot real. Most are real just wernt stamped.
