Default Bill Russell Celtics Photo -- 1956-58??

Hey guys! Wondering if anybody can help me out with this photo because I am stumped. Is this actually Jack Nichols in this photo or could it possibly be John Richter (who played for the Celtics in 1959)?

It looks like number 4 is Dolph Schayes, but I'm trying to pin this in that 1956-58 range or 1959-60.

Just from looks and the fact that I've been unable to find any photos of Nichols in high top Converse, has me leaning towards Richter, but any other thoughts/comments would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

Congratulations. You did well on that RMY Auction !!!

To answer your question, I think it may be Richter too, so it would be 1959-60 season.

Thanks! Was HOPING I was wrong, but I do think you're right. OH well -- still a cool early playing days photo (:

Now I just need to hunt down clips from the actual game this stinkin' photo was taken! Thought this would be relatively easy, but it's proving difficult. None of the 1990-91 Bulls home games (playoffs or regular season) seem to line up with what they're wearing in this one...

This was my original photo I purchased at a local Boston show

Yes - never a thought about placing other names on the photo when I sold it!

both are correct and from my research this does appear to be John Richter #16 for the Celtics

great photo and I enjoyed having it and glad it went to a good home and was sold at auction by one of the best!

Thanks Jimmy

I don't think that you have the correct season. I think this is 89-90 playoffs as the Jordan 5 was released in February of 90, Mike would have had 6's on after Feb of 91.

Edit - Yeah, everything seems to match it was game 1,2 or 5. The only thing throwing me off is you can't see his tights in this shot. I think they were just riding high as he squatted.

You’re right — I don’t know why I didn’t think of checking the the 1990 playoffs! Weird thing is in the clips from both games 1 and 5, he’s wearing red compression shorts. REALLY need a resource that has full shots of these games. He must not have scored on this drive since none of the YouTube videos seem to have it lol

Now that I look at it again, you can see the compression shorts. That was throwing me off too.

If you watch the game 2 video he has red shorts with a black band at the bottom. Because the picture is black and white, the mind tricks you into thinking the area above the black is skin tone but I am sure it is red.
