Question on displaying T206's

I am working on some displays to hang up raw T206s in my "man cave". Was thinking of using "floating" picture frames in 8 x 14 size, as I could fit about 10 T206s per frame, with nice spacing. (floating frames are where there is a piece of glass on both front and back, and so the cards would just be held in place by the pressure between the glass on front and back.)

Anyway, my concerns:
Fading. I think I'll be OK here, as the cards will be on the wall with the window, so they will get no direct sunlight. This is a room where the shades are usually closed over the window anyway. The picture frames do have UV glass which filters out 98% of uv rays (or so they claim). So I think fading shouldn't be a big problem.

The main thing I am worried about though, is potential damage to the cards from the floating frames. I am concerned that years down the road, when I take the cards out of their frames, that some of the front color on the cards might remain stuck to the glass or something. Has anyone ever tried floating frames before? Results? Am I silly to worry about this?

Not sure if I am understanding you correctly, but the T206 front/back should not directly touch a glass frame.

Building in a whole lot of assumptions...like a near 0 humidity and that the glass has no glazing or other residue on it, you should be fine, however I would suggest putting them in an ultraclear penny sleeve to avoid contact with the glass. Trimming it down (the sleeve, not the card) would make it almost invisible.

Fortunately, I do live in a dry area (the mountain west), so humidity is low.

Your idea of a penny sleeve is a fantastic idea. I feel like a moron for not thinking of that myself. Thanks! Yep I'll just trim it down and it shouldn't detract from the overall eye appeal one bit.

Here is what I have done with a few of mine...

I first put them in a semi rigid card case that is cut to size, I then affix the card case to the back of the matt. Put the matt in a frame along with archival foam core backing and voila!

While I am not advocating grading, I might suggest you get your cards slabbed and then have them framed. The humidity, pressure and overall safety of the cards should be assured.

I like it too. That's pretty much what I am planning on doing, just 2 rows of 5 cards each, so 10 cards per frame. When I get it done I'll post some pics.

I need more soft sleeves for my raw T206s. I have the harder top loaders and regular binder pages already, just need the soft sleeves only. I searched the web and ebay, and can't find them. All I find is the packs of hard top loaders, each with a soft sleeve.

Anybody know where to buy just the tobacco-sized soft sleeves by themselves?
