Default 1981 Rochester/Pawtucket 33 Inning Game

The other day marked the 43rd anniversary of the start of the infamous 33 inning game between the Rochester Red Wings and Pawtucket Red Sox.

The first 32 innings were played overnight from April 18-19 before the game was mercifully suspended at 4:07 am. The game was finally completed on June 23rd with Pawtucket winning 3-2.

A fan who lived in Charleston, WV (home of the Indians AAA team) secured these team signed carboard sheets of both teams when they visited his town later in the season (complete with a photocopy of the boxscore).

Notable players in this game included Cal Ripken Jr., Marty Barrett, Wade Boggs, Rich Gedman & Bruce Hurst...Perhaps notable for being a tough autograph, this piece also includes pitcher Win Remmerswaal, who only pitched for Pawtucket for one year, as well as 22 games for the Red Sox & later pitched in Italy after his MLB career ended...He unfortunately lapsed into a coma in 1997 in the Netherlands before passing away in 2022:

OH MY is that a thing of beauty. Thank you for posting. As a Boggs collector that autograph is amazing as most items I have seen were signed years after the game.
