Feb 2023 pickups
I'll start with the bar low. Not expensive or rare, but considering I had her picture taped in my locker in HS, I'm liking this one.

From a recent signing with Charlie Scott. Extremely reasonable fee for a Hall of Famer
68-basketball.jpg Two tickets from the gold medal game at the 1968 Olympics. Signed by Spencer Haywood at The National in AC last year. He added the inscription on his own, no extra fee. 68-team.jpg Envelope signed in 1968 by 10 of the team members. You can tell Scott signed with a different pen, but it still fits. Don Dee, above Jo Jo White and Ken Spain, below Spencer Haywood are not common. Interestingly, the only player missing is Jim King. His name is written on this. It was probably for his room key. Fortunately, he is still living in Texas. I have a friend at the U.S. Olympic Alumni office who will forward a letter to him so I will write to see if he will sign this. c-scott.jpg Souvenir sheet. I was able to pick up about 25 of these for $5. Unfortunately there are only 5 members of the team still living (Spencer Haywood, Charlie Scott, Bill Hoskett, Glynn Saulters and Jim King). Ajman is one of the emirates of the UAE best known for their postage stamps.

This is for the early 90s hockey fans. Following the success of Upper Deck/Leaf, OPC also came out with their "premium" Premier set in 1990. Smaller set (132 total cards including the checklist), it was loaded with contemporary stars and rookies. Very popular when it first hit the market but that didn't last long...today it's a nice little set to get signed as it has all the hofers plus some toughies.
I managed to acquire 125/131 from original owner who chased every player down in the early 90s. An early 2023 highlight for sure! Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk

I remember getting a lot of those players in person and they were pretty good for signing. I think Jagr was the toughest of those shown and that is probably because he was Eastern European. Green, Hawerchuk, Lafleur, LaFontaine, Hextall, Leetch, C. Lemieux were always good at the hotel. Gretzky was very good when you saw him. Mario Lemieux was a little wary. I think I got him at a golf tournament back then and he was pretty good. If Tom Barrasso(le), as we called him, signed in that set then that would be one of the tougher ones.

the toughies are greg parks, link gaetz, martin hostak, john tanner. the problem is hockey players come from all over the world, so there's a short window or they disappear back to wherever they came from. the stars are/were gettable.
