Default Asleep at the Wheel?

Holy Cow, Rosie got a great deal:

http://cgi.ebay.com/1887-Old-Judge-N172-Sleepy-Townsend-SGC-80-EX-NM-6_W0QQitemZ190045342775QQihZ009QQcategoryZ86844QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

not too badly miscategorized and a few prominent names on the bidding list.

This was a great deal, IMO. Why is it my carefully designed daily ebay search missed this card but always catches the self "graded" magazine cutouts?!?!

Well it was listed under 1930-39 cards, instead of pre 1930.

I'm not a huge proponent of professional grading for the cards I buy, but I think perhaps SGC was asleep at the wheel judging the card to be EXMT given the cut at the bottom.

Still, it is a nice price for an Old Judge given what they are fetching lately.

I agree with Kevin, that cut at the bottom is bad. The lettering from the advertisement has been cut. I figure if PSA grades them with the entire AD cut off then SGC can grade them with the AD partially cut off.
