Default Ever spotted a card on ebay which you believe was stolen or lost?

Posted By: Bob

At the National Convention in Cleveland I gave a lot of 10 cards to GAI to grade. Bottom line, 9 were graded the other disappeared. It was never found by GAI. I was finally (after a long wait) reimbursed for $400 for a vg+ to vgex T207 Moriarty with corner wear but no creases, a nice solid mid-grade card with a red Cycle back. I had never seen a red Cycle back Moriarty before.
Well tonight on ebay the card's twin brother sold, in an SGC holder. It may not be the same card but man they are the spitting image of each other down to the corner wear and larger top border than bottom. I have emailed the seller to ask him (very cordially) if he remembers how he acquired the card. I'm certainly not implying anything funny on his part, just frustrating...
If anyone could look at the scan and tell me if the SGC grade is an "older" one, or at least one before July 2007, I would sure appreciate it and it would make me feel better

Footnote- The card went for $600+

Bob--call SGC with the number on the slab, they'll tell you exactly when it was graded. Looks to me like it's #8162997-001.
Good luck..

This one came from Hunt Auctions on their July 25th Internet/Phone Auction along with about 17 other T207's. Please contact Hunt Auctions with regards to when they got it for consignment or from whom.

I had it arrive at my house sometime before the 8th of Aug because I took jpegs of it on Aug. 8th.

Now what I bought from Hunt on and what arrived on my doorstep in early Aug, I can not say what takes place in an auction house in Pennsylvania.

Please go to

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=200164545925&ssPageName=STRK:MESO:IT&ih=010>

and look at the back of the card, did yours have a these three spots on the back (right side)? This is how I know the one I sent into SGC came back as the same. Also, the word York on the back was ever so slightly loose.

Here is the SGC story.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with GAI.

On July 25th I was the winning bidder of this Hunt Auction (Internet-Phone):

You are the winning bidder on the following item:

Lot Item: 923

Thanks Scott, I appreciate your kindness in the email and post in letting me know this card couldn't have been the same one since the National was around the same time as the Hunt's auction. That does make me feel better although both cards are nearly identical.
The interesting thing is that the group of 18 T207s in Hunt's went for $238 total and the one Moriarty from this lot went for $615 tonight on ebay. Great pickup! And thumbs down to whomever wrote the description for Hunt's for being lazy and just saying "10 of the cards have severe back damage" leading bidders to not know the Moriarty was fine (and probably also the very tough Works card which looks vgex). Guess that happens when people don't do their homework.
oh well, guess I'll find out what happened to my card some day.
