Almost anything I post is getting removed automatically by Bill, simply because he is upset at my emails concerning his handling of recent board issues. I will post this same message repeatedly, regardless of how many times he deletes it - I'm sick of this.

I'm not upset. Annoyed, yes, but I'll get over that.

This forum does not exist for endless vendettas between posters. We have roughly 500 unique visitors each day, most of whom are here to read and to post on occasion. I've stated by email that I won't let Scott and Greg (in this case) "defend" themselves by hijacking threads or provoking one another. Those are the threads that were deleted; I have no intention of deleting this one.

This board needs a moderator. It's usually a hands-off job, but dumb battles like this one ensure that someone has to do it. If there's a consensus that people want me out, I'll gladly step aside. We'd need a volunteer to take over, of course. Please let me know if you're interested.

Back to collecting.

Bill

If I took over, anything would go and this board would go right in the crapper! So you better let Bill continue, he is doing a better job than I ever could. Dan.

scott, greg, etal;

bill is overseeing a vintage baseball card forum.

not a personal pissing match between 2 people who quite frankly probably do not collect that many cards, but care to comment on each and every card that the other puts on ebay or buys and sells, or ever owned or was purported to have owned or got graded, or sold it to someone that got it graded, or popped it out and got it regraded.

if you read that entire sentence you should comprehend the idiocricy of the entire post/post deleted dilema, just shut up and read, do not post and repost.

I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU TWO DO IN YOUR PERSONAL VENDETTA/EMAILS, BUT GIVE THE REST OF US A BREAK.

the purpose of the board is to inform and educate both advanced collectors and new collectors. did you ever wonder why some of the most knowledgable and advanced collectors read the board but do not post? they do not need the aggrivation of petty emails and posts'. they have so much to add and yet so little time for the flambuoyant rhetoric.

if you can not see eye to eye we understand, but don't make every new post a personal playing field.

please feel free to contact me with any questions. and of course both of you are welcome at my table in cleveland as i am not holding any animosity towards either but just speaking out with an opinion that many others may feel but are not as inclined to print.

Have another beer Scott, and I will be at your table whether I am invited or not because I do not think you are that tough.

he'll have to take you home whether we arm wrestle, fist fight or drink beer i am betting on the latter and it's really my strong suit inspite of my stature.

of course you are welcome at my table!! and so is every one else, we just don;t need the discourse!

I yield on that last one! You have already chewed me up and spit me out in that category back when I was in the best drinking shape of my life! I sure was humbled!!!

I concur completely with Bill concerning the content and oversight of the Board. Bill has spent countless VOLUNTEER hours to oversee the Board, and, like Elliott before him, he has done a masterful job, even to the point of small details like presenting interesting visual backgrounds each month for the home page. Let's all give him the support he deserves, and give support to our fellow Board members, Scott and Greg, as they continue their personal discussions in a quieter, private venue.

However, as someone who can't attend Cleveland this year, I will miss Scott B's herculean beer consumption demonstrations!

You're doing a great job, Bill.

Cheers to all, Mike

Seems as though Bill knows when to step in and delete or just let something go - that is called sound judgment and what a good moderator should have. Frankly, when I see posts like those mentioned, I just use the scroll bar and ignore them.

Being a board moderator is a thankless job that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Personally, I'd rather walk on glass than perform that task.

I had something to say, so I said it. I realized that a few of you would pull the "holier than thou" thing, and that this would also likely turn into an "I Love U Bill" thread. Expected, and fine.

<<2 people who quite frankly probably do not collect that many cards>>

Admittedly Scott, I will never know a tenth of what you know about cards. I'm interested in baseball history but really have no desire to be the owner of the world's largest or most valuable card collection or strut around card conventions with wads of $100 bills. I don't think any of those things are what it takes to increase vintage baseball knowledge.

To the rest of you, I apologize for responding to the posts that "got my goat", or for pointing out problems in the hobby - it causes fights and that's unfair to the rest of you. Also, as Scott pointed out, my collection is not big enough to give me that priviledge. So I will in the future defer to the lawyers and small business owners.

As far as posting, this is the best place on the web to get my baseball history fix - lurking is good, but interracting is better.

scott,

thank you for posting.

i would like to clarify my point on "card collecting" the statement i made has nothing to do with money equaling knowlwdge, nor does have it anything to do with a person's interest in a hobby or subject. as you stated you are interested in baseball history and i will be the 1st to admit you could run circles around me in that area.

most people come to this board to learn about vintage cards and many are looking to buy or sell vintage cards, whether it may be a $10 item or $10,000 item. they are not looking for an interet soap opera, which does not pertain to collecting cards but usually 2 peoples "beef" with each other, that was my point.

scott

I think I can hold my tongue when I see inane posts - I'll pretend like I'm reading the Dallas Morning News editorial section.

I think a couple of us were fighting, a couple of us (me) were making fun of CU, and someone posted a link to an ENTIRE CU thread--er, can I say, not the wisest move from the point of view of intelligence?
