Things that make you go HUH? Revised Sorry
Posted By: joe brennan
2 auctions same night, ending minutes apart. Listed correctly. I give up trying to figure this hobby out. I like logical things, mathematical formulas that make sense. This hobby follows rules like the english language, no rhyme or reason. I'm very please with my pick up though, but you help me figure these out. |

The lower priced one has a MC qualifier so that's why it got the lower price. |

I guess that's the reason a PSA 4 MC went for $82.00 and a PSA 5 MC went for $35.00. I was under the impression they were both commons. Thanks for the info. joe |

Wait till you see what a Dummy Hoy N172 Old Judge cards goes for. He was basicly a common player, but his cards sell for 10X more than a common, and 2-3X more than most Hall of Famers. |

...prices of two cards from the same set, it is always best to try to use the same player in each instance. Differences in supply and demand abound between players otherwise known as commons. |

While I am the first to admit that Dummy Hoy is highly overrated (at least in referring to his card prices), but I wouldn't say Dummy was anywhere near a common player. If he was in the Hall of Fame, he wouldn't be close to the worst guy inducted. |

Rhett, I agree. His stats are very impressive. I think the bar was much higher in the beginning of the HOF. I'm not trying to open up a can of worms, but he would be a star today with those stats. Joe |

Hoy was better than Lloyd Waner but he would still be one of the "worst" HOFers. With those stats today he'd be regarded as a clone of Brett Butler. A fine player but not a HOFer. For Hoy to get into the Hall he would have to be given extra credit for having been deaf. Roy Thomas was a similar but better player than Hoy but he had no disability so he is barely remembered today. |
