Default boston red sox 10 tag lefty grove locker tag what is it?

I picked this up in an estate in lonaconing maryland (lefty grove's hometown I live about 9 miles away) Questions: What is it? locker key chain? Tag of some sort? and Does it have anything to do with the Lefty Grove. Any information would be helpful.

It is a locker tag, from the 1920-1930 era. The number refers to the locker number, and I am unaware of any attempt by teams to allign a locker number with a uniform number (if that is what you were wondering). I have seen a few reproductions of these tags, but yours looks vintage.
