Default Info on 1952 Mickey Mantle

I got this card at a estate sale. I bought a dresser once we got it home my wife was taking the drawers out to clean it and this card was in a envelope taped to the bottom of the drawer. I called the person I dealt with from the sale and he really couldn't tell me anything about the owner had passed away and the only contact he had was to charity to whom was supposed to receive the money from the sale because the man had no family. The card may not be anything I don't know that's why Im hoping some one could tell me I attached pics if better one or need let me know thanks

Yeah I think the same, but it would be nice if it was just a lost Gem.

Get a 1952T common and compare the size, stock and printing. That should suss out any blatant fakes. Then put the two under a 100x microscope and compare the printing. If it still looks good to you, I'd suggest asking a board member near you with expertise in the set to have a look, or any rep from a legitimate auction house, if you want to sell. It would cost you $10K to send to PSA, so I'd turn over every stone before I did that.

Default Mantle

Looks like a type 1. Some good information here:

https://allvintagecards.com/how-to-s...-topps-mantle/

The areas around the Yankees logo and around the stars look a bit off to me compared to others that I’ve seen…to orange. But it could just be the scan.

Good lock with it.

Legit perfectly centered copies are virtually impossible to find.

Yet this one is almost perfectly centered? I mean, maybe not centered perfect enough to get Travis to buy it. But for the rest of us who are okay with 49/51, we probably wouldn't reject it out of hand.

Justin Beiber taught us to "never say never". But such perfect centering alone really makes me feel like this one is probably too good to be true.

This is like reading Chapter 1 of The Idiot's Guide to Scamming.

A new guy's first (and only) post is relating a fanciful story that plays upon everyone's dream of discovering a hugely valuable T206 Wagner or a 1952 Topps Mantle hidden somewhere. The use of his 'wife' is to basically say, "Look, I'm just a regular guy, everybody. You can trust me."

Since it is obviously a fake/reprint/whatever, why in high hell would someone keep it hidden away by taping it to the underside of a drawer??? Huh?????

Oy vey.

Spelling "Yastrzemski" correctly without needing to look it up since the 1980s.

Not to mention no corner wear. Uh, OK.

The back is the best way to tell. The white around the edges is a big no/no a true 52 has brown edges even with wear.

My instinct is telling me the same, but there is always fantasy, I suppose.

Definitely a great first post for the OP.

Maybe he was hoping we would all go nuts trying to contact him with a PM to buy it off him?

Or maybe he's hoping that we'll share all the reasons why it's obviously fake so that he can come up with a better fake the next time around?

Exactly this, which we have seen in the past numerous times.

Like Raulus below. These clowns come in here and receive, unbeknownst to many it seems, information/tips on how to make their fakes better and/or more passable.
