Default Former NFL Player Scrapbook - questions about Autographs

I recently acquired a scrapbook of a former NFL player from the 1940-50s (Carl Samuelson) and it has a bunch of letterheads with signatures and a 1949 Pittsburgh Steelers team photo (Cut from a program I think) with autographs of most of the team. Was wondering what you guys thought about some of the autographs..I'm almost sure that the team autos are legit, they were afterall acquired by the former player while he was on the team, but am more wondering about the letters...will list more as the thread evolves. Thanks.

Here are photos of the team autographs..any rare ones? Value of the whole?

WOW Dan---that is a great pic & I have no doubt that the autos are real! I see several familiar names but can't comment as to any rarities, but being from 1949 I wouldn't doubt there are a couple of tough ones in there! Some of the names I recognize from my 1950's Bowman FB cards!

No opinions on value of the 1949 team signed pages?

How about authenticity of these letterheads?

Really? Nobody has an opinion? Did these NFL guys sign their own letters?

Dan- I was just perusing some old threads and saw this one. I am no autograph guy but I can't believe any of this stuff you are mentioning would be faked. It would make no sense and there is very little motive? Any other thoughts?

With the provenance, I think the only question would be if any of the letters are secretarially signed. I would imagine checking against known authentic signatures would quickly weed out secretarials.

I'm no football autograph expert, but know Reeves' signature is rare and valuable. Often ranked as one of football's HOFer rarities.

Having just done a comparison, my guess is the Reeves is genuine.

Wow, killer scrapbook Dan - congrats. I would bet all of the signatures are authentic. Great find. By the way, any Eagles related stuff in the book? If so, and you break the book up at all, I would be interested.

This thread got no interest when I posted it that I didn't figure it was anything special...I sold all of the letterheads on ebay a short time after I posted this. I can't recall exactly what the Reeves sold for but I think it was around $600. The guy who won it from me was happy with it.

Keith, there was no Eagles stuff in the book...I definitely would have contacted you if there had been.
