Default Today is the 103rd anniversary of the famous Fred Toney- Hippo Vaughn no-hitter

On May 2nd, 1917 Cincinnati Reds pitcher Fred Toney dueled with Cubs pitcher Hippo Vaughn at Cubs Park, also called Weeghman Park.
Together they made history that has never been repeated by both hurling 9 innings of no-hit ball.
Fred Toney prevailed and pitched 10 innings of no-hit ball.
The Reds defeated the Cubbies 1-0.
Incredible feat that I'm sure will never be duplicated.

If you're drinking tonight, please raise a toast to both of these gentleman!

Here is a Type I photo of Fred Toney's trophy last out ball from what is one of the greatest games ever pitched. I recently picked this up & love the image!
I also own a full ticket to this game in my own collection
Here are pictures of my complete season ticket book from 1917 Cubs.
The Fred Toney-Hippo Vaughan game was home game # 8 in the book.

Hi Chris,
Sorry to leave you hanging!
FYI, I was working on this post just as dinner came out of the oven last night & I didn't get a chance to snap some pics until today and add them.
My post is now complete as I intended originally.
