Default Carlton and Cepeda Team Issue Photos Question

Hi

I have had these Cardinals team issued photos for a while and I would like to find out their approximate issue dates. The first set of scans show Steve Carlton photos. The larger one is roughly 8X10 and the smaller ones are postcard size. My guess is that 8X10 is the earliest, but that is just a guess. Same question regarding the Orlando Cepeda ones. Which is earlier and what are the approximate dates? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Alan

I have always understood the 8 x 10 Carlton to be a 1965 issue, but I have no real proof. The postcard size ones are definitely later.

With those sideburns, I would say the middle Carlton has to be his last year as a Cardinal in 1971.

Thank you both! Paul, that would be great if it is from 1965 but either way I am glad the larger format ones are earlier as I like them better and will be keeping those in my HOF photo/premium binder.

Default Dating team issued photos

I have done alot of research on these on george brett. The best way is to find team issued programs. ,,magazines, etc. One thing
i learned that these could be used over a number of years so
its tricky dating them to a particular year. Most were sent out
to newspapers requesting photos and used in any number of years
and hand outs at games, signing tables, etc.
They are hard to find because so many newspapers destroyed their files, people didn't hold on to them, etc.
The smaller ones are called postcards by psa and they did produce the larger ones.
