Default 2011 Update Trout Fakes

Just wondering if buying one of these cards raw is still a good idea or are there fakes out there to be aware of? What makes the fakes detectable?

Thanks!

I thought the issue was more that tons of them have been microtrimmed than that they have been faked, but I could be wrong.

Thinking about buying a raw copy. Just looking for advice before I drop that kind of money. Pretty nerve wracking but it’s a card I need for my RC PC.

Buy raw if you know the person or from a reputable dealer but otherwise, I would buy one in a holder and in a lower grade if you don't feel comfortable buy raw on eBay.

Tons of counterfeits and a lot of micro trimmed cards in graded slabs. Best bet is to research and buy raw or stick to a 7 or lower graded card.

I’ve yet to see a convincing fake for U175, which has quite surprised me. There are several repro versions available on eBay and all are clearly not original when looking at image quality and the foiling on front. I honestly see more people bidding up the “Berger’s Best” or “Retro-Rookie” reprints Topps released themselves when a quick look at the back will tell them what they’re buying.

This is the first time I'm hearing of any potential fake US175s ....
