Do we really want to have this discussion again on the front page? Sports teams names are changing. Some like it and some don't.

I agree; this has been brought up here before, and I don't think there is any more productive discussion left on the topic.

The only thing that is interesting is that the Roller Derby Team wants a piece of the action since it is the same name.

Yet many cities shared teams with same name in different sports.

Hopefully that sends them back to the drawing board and they pick something else.

Watching last nights game I don't think the Indians tomahawk chop is going anywhere. I guess it will be the Guardians chop going forward.

The chop is not frowned upon in the indigenous roller derby league either on the track or in the stands.

I do think it would be need to keep it simple and just go with the Cleveland Ball Club or something like that rather than trying to make a new nickname catch on. Something that sounds old school.

Especially in a city with so much baseball history.

Cleveland loves to screw things up by not embracing their blue collar roots. The Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse (artist formerly know as Quicken Loans Arena) had a total makeover in recent years. Instead of incorporating a rustic twist with their modernization of the building exterior, they went with this stupid glass look that lights up. Shiny colors are a stupid person's favorite thing I guess.

I like the Guardians nickname, but their logo is hideous. I wonder if the Roller Derby legal situation had anything to do with their logo being created with Microsoft Word Art rather than a professional, BA statue head.

Winning heals all wounds, and the Dolans would do well to spend some money to keep the core of this team together, as well as on the corner OF positions.
