It looks good but for that money I would think they would have some type of
JSA/PSA authentication.
Could not see if they had any.
That is big money for an autograph but it is on a photo in a Boston Redsox uniform and his early day items are desirable.
I also do not know that site. So I do not know its reputation. If they have a good rep that adds to the confidence level.
Lastly does that site offer any kind of guarantee in the event the buyer buys it and it is found not authentic

It is an amazing piece I would just want assurances

I personally don't like it. It is not a Boston playing days signature for sure. I would not touch it as is for a thousand dollars. Just my opinion of course and everybody has one. Interested to see others comments.

Without a doubt it is NOT a Boston playing-days signature. And I'm not particularly fond of it, either.

Did the OP ask if it was an early sig from his Boston Playing Days? I thought he just wanted to know if the sig was authentic.

The article said it was a 100 year old autographed photo which would indicate it was a Boston playing days photo, I know that is not the case but I don’t like it as a 1930’s autograph. No quotation marks would indicate at least post 1927 or so autograph. Just does not look right to me but of course I could be dead wrong.

The article said, and I quote, "and we're told experts believe it was signed while he was a member of the Boston organization, which would make this pic 100+ years old!!!"

Some experts.

I have seen some examples of that photograph, all having been produced after Ruth died. I am not making any statement about the autograph, but I have seen 4-5 examples of that photo unsigned and all have dated from the 1960's-1980's, possibly a hair earlier, but not WWII era or earlier.

Babe was with the "Boston" Braves in 1935?

In the photograph, you can see Ruth rockin' a Red Sox uniform -- when he played for them from 1914 to 1919 ... and we're told experts believe it was signed while he was a member of the Boston organization, which would make this pic 100+ years old!!!

The 1935 Boston organization?

Larry

Ruth was on the NL Boston Braves in 1935, not the Red Sox.

I think what Lucky Larry is trying to get at is this: Ruth was pictured in a Red Sox uniform BUT he signed the photo when he was with the Braves organization.

Thanks for the input everyone. It almost certainly is not from his time as a Red Sox. It could be from later in his life.

The photo pictures him from over 100 years ago, but the photo itself is not that old.

That ink has a greater chance of having been applied in the future rather than in the past.
