Default Variations of the 1929 R315's...

Posted By: Brad Green

The 1929 R315's come in four style variations (Types A, B, C and D) and at least two color variations (white and yellow stock).

http://www.oldcardboard.com/r/r315/r315.asp?cardsetID=873

Does anyone know if every card in the set can be found in every different style and color variation?

I am particularly interested to know whether or not the Lefty Grove card appears in all four style variations and both color variations. I have seen the Grove card on white stock in Types A and B, but I have not seen a yellow or the Type C or D variation.

Thanks!

Brad

Default Variations of the 1929 R315's...

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley

I could be wrong when it comes to this set, but I was under the impression that although there are different front types described, there are actually only 2 REAL types. By this I mean there are 46 different players in the R315 set (40 cards come with name/team in box on bottom portion of photo, and 6 cards with their names not in a box). Therefore if you have all 40 Type A cards plus the 6 type C cards that constitutes a real "set" of 46 cards, likewise if you have all 40 type B cards and all 6 type D cards that would also constitute a true set. So, really there are 2 versions of this set Those with the text below the photo portion (B & D), and those without (A & C). This is what I understood, but may be incorrect.

The six guys that come as only type C or D are Cissell, Clancy, Hendricks, Jolley, Reynolds, and Shires.
